    The Raval is unbelievably compromised in a few important areas and yet it’s been in the making for years. It feels like VAG have been so slow to get these small EV’s to market. They have one last opportunity to get something right…..the price….and will they blow that one too?

      MG 4 urban is similar pricing but larger

    So if you decide accelerating is better than breaking it will break so you get squished by a lorry.. sweet love safety

    Sliders instead of buttons…… not ideal but I’ll go along with it. The car stopping itself if you plant the accelerator……. Now that is a deal breaker. I have an audi that likes to try and stop itself with ovelry agressive speed humps and nearly been rear ended a couple of times. If I plant the accelerator, it’s because I want to get out of the position, not be stopped in it.

      Yeah I drive a Cupra Leon with basically the same infotainment system and also the aggressive front assist feature that your Audi has. The infotainment and lack of buttons is not for everyone, but after a couple of months you get used to the sliders (which can also be just pressed to change audio volume & AC temp). The front assist you will find on all VAG cars; far too frequent alarms when the car thinks you’re gonna brake too late, or brake for you when it thinks you’re gonna drive into an object like a hump or a parked car.

      yeah does look good. Do wonder how much the top end version will cost but is on my radar to look at.

      How? It’s a flashy looking Skoda Epiq with a cramped interior and a 280 mile range for (probably) £35k. Oh and it’s a Cupra, a notoriously unreliable brand.

    Why this comparison? If you try a Fiat Ducato, would you say it’s bigger and more spacious than a Renault 5?

    Not one mention of a Chinese EV competitor like Zeekr X, NIO Firefly or Geely EX2. If you close your eyes enough Europe, this looks fantastic 😅

      None of those cars are sold in the UK, and this is a UK channel so why mention any of those? The EX2 is supposedly arriving some time this year but I wouldn’t classify it as a competitor. Might be similar in size but no one looking at this thinking ‘that’s a nice looking car, I’d like that’ is going to look at an EX2 and think the same thing, it looks smooth, blobby and bland. Everything the Raval isn’t.

    Crazy how there’s this complete disconnect between car marketing and the reality of driving, at least in Britain, if not as bad in many other places. The driving experience for 90% of the time is 20mph roads, bumper to bumper congestion, crowded motorways, pot holes & speed cameras. Meanwhile car brands are still pushing more power, sports dynamics and ever larger & heavier vehicles that no longer fit our obsolete standard parking spaces. What we actually need are space efficient, light vehicles with beautifully crafted interiors (air purification, massage seats & a calming ambience) & ride dynamics highly optimised for comfort & coping with our dreadful road surfaces. Yet there seems to be a pact between buyers and mfrs to maintain a collective denial of reality. Perhaps it was ever thus? 😏

      Agreed. There has never been any freedom when driven, more conscience sometimes but not freedom. We have been sold the dream but got the nightmare. All towns and cities are ruined by cars, for drivers and all others. We have gone from around 26 million to 43 million in the last two decades. Adverts make them look fun and free but they are at one end dangerous (the number of deaths and serious injuries would not be acceptable for most other forms of transport) and the other end dull as we are mostly stuck in traffic.

      These cars are getting bigger and bigger wheels too, with lower and lower profile tyres, just right to burst a tyre and crack a rim on our third world roads in the UK.

      Yeah I quite fancy a Renault twingo second hand in about 3 years. 27 lap battery and weighs 1200kg. Probably gets 5+miles per kwh around towna and the rear seats slide to give 300 litres boot space or 200 with leg room. Clever stuff and small around town

  10. @chasf3433 Avatar
    @chasf3433

    No way will this car get 250 miles out of a 52kwh battery. Definitely sub 200 miles on a high speed run maybe 150 miles in cold weather and much less when using the typical 20-80% capacity . Small EVs really need the range boost they will eventually get from solid state tech batteries. Those big alloys are pointless other than showroom appeal for those that do not understand EV efficiency and ride comfort/noise on UK roads.

    Too expensive for what you get and WHY have they continued with the old infotainment screen in this brand new model.
