BMW iX3 Takes on Audi Q6 e-tron – there’s a clear winner…

BMW iX3 review:
Audi Q6 e-tron evaluation:

It's time for a correct electric SUV face-off. In this head-to-head, Nicola Hume and Batch put two of the most essential brand-new EVs to the test: the brand new BMW iX3 and the Audi Q6 e-tron.
These aren't just any electric SUVs, they represent the next generation of EV tech from two of Germany's greatest brands. The Audi brings advanced design, major performance and the brand's most current PPE platform. However BMW is making some huge claims with the brand-new iX3, assuring enhanced performance, variety and driving characteristics that might move the video game on.
So which one in fact delivers? Nicola and Batch dive into whatever that matters: design, interior quality, tech, practicality, variety, charging and– crucially– how they drive. Along the method, they break down the strengths and weaknesses of each cars and truck to help you decide which one is worthy of a spot on your shortlist.
Is the BMW iX3 the new standard for electrical SUVs? Or does the Audi Q6 e-tron still have the edge?
See the complete comparison and let us understand which one you 'd choose

This was a great comparison of two excellent cars.

One important thing to note, though, is that the Audi shown here appears to be the 2025 Q6, not the 2026 version. That matters, because viewers should be aware of a few differences that were not mentioned in the video:

    – The 2026 Q6 quattro has significantly more power
    – The Q6 is available with air suspension, including height adjustment and adaptive dampers. This one seems to have the standard steel suspension. Many buyers choose the air suspension, and it makes a big difference. iX3 does not offers adaptive dampers or Air suspension. Need to move to iX to get that.
    – The 2026 Q6 has a black grille, not a body-colored one
    – The Q6 offers massaging seats and ventilated seats, which the iX3 does not
    – The 2026 Q6 also has one-pedal driving and can come to a full stop without using the friction brakes in normal driving

Still a very interesting comparison, but I think these points are worth mentioning so viewers get a more complete picture.

Thanks for this, and all good points. Unfortunately, we’re limited by what cars Audi has on its press fleet, and currently they are the 2025 cars

As you say, the iX3 also has passive suspension, so the comparison was fair in that regard. There are reports, adaptive dampers will be available on the iX3 as an option later in the year.

    3. @evkx Avatar
      @evkx

@Kelveron Yes, but one of the differences mentioned was ride quality and ride height, which can be completely changed by adding air suspension. At the moment, the gap between the Q6 Plus and Pro is only £3000, and that includes air suspension along with several other features. When you’re spending this much on a car, it’s an easy choice.

My 2025 Q6 has all that in the Prestige trim here in the states. It also has an electric pano roof shade and the pano roof opens like a regular sunroof. Also in the states we’re getting 457 horsepower with the dual motor. As to charging, I just did an 1100 mile roadtrip and to be honest the Q6 at 275 kW charging actually charged too fast. By the time we walked across the parking lot, went to the bathroom, got coffee, stood in line to pay for the coffee, walked back across the parking lot, the Q6 had already charged beyond what we needed to get to the next charger. I understand that fast charging is a great marketing tool but we needed more time to stretch our legs for the next two and a half to three hours in the car. We got 3.1 miles per kilowatt hour and we were cruising between 75 and 90 mph. I love my Q6, it’s an amazing road tripper. I’m sure the BMW is great too. Nice to have choices. Though I’m not a big fan of the BMWs looks.

It also has the overhauled MMI and physical scroll wheels on the steering wheel which should slightly improve the overall user experience

Even the Macan stablemate has had many issues for iirc Edmunds. M-B EV’s are perhaps even worse. Somehow BMW is the only one of the German brands to make reliable EVs.

Mine has been ok. I’ve had my Quattro version for 13 months. Drives well, very comfortable, range is about 260 miles in winter and 320 in summer (21” wheels) just driving in balanced without any added regen. Easy to push the winter range up by 20 miles using the economy setting and light regen if required. Only issue has been the software updates being a bit slow and defaulting to a basic sat nav screen with limited search functionality until it’s automatically restored after 4 days the first time and 30 minutes the second time. Not sure but it seemed to be caused by being in a poor mobile signal area when the update tried to load.

    Alles Geschmacksache 😃
War Jahrzehnte treuer BMW Fahrer. Zuletzt X5M.

I’ve seen so many reviewers agree with you about the passenger screen. I imagine the presence of the screen doesn’t necessarily restrict the passenger from interacting with the driver.
For me, it presents as an enhancement similar to things like massaging seats or ambient lighting. You’re not not obligated to use them but if you feel they’ll add to your experience, you’re welcome to try them.
    I love that iX3 12/6 steering wheel.
I don’t think either of these vehicles are particularly handsome but I’m drawn to the looks of the IX3 just slightly more. I much prefer the styling of the R2 and the GLC-E.
Ideally I would like to see Audi add at least 100 miles more range to be competitive.
Thanks for the funny and enjoyable review 👌
