      It is for a iX30 50 xDrive which is only the base at launch. The iX3 40 xDrive will be under 55k and the base RWD iX3 40 with be near 50k. Nearly the same base price as the ICE.

    12:47 – um… that is the standard steering wheel. The other choice (Sport steering wheel) doesn’t have the 12 & 6 o’clock spokes.

    Not a fan of BMWs but I must admit: This is really good. Pricey, can never afford it, SUV, etc. But the fact that they have created this car completely in-house with impressive range and finally made a car that looks GREAT? This one deserves all the attention it gets, hands down.

      my best bet is that its LG batteries made in Poland not in-house. That is single most labor intensive/biggest and heaviest part of the car. So just like VW is doing. But ill watch video now and see how wrong was I.

      Trust me, after owning a BMW i4 for the last 3 years, I have no problem with buying a used BMW EV next time. I plan on keeping mine for another 3 years. By then, the iX3 will be under £30k, and still brilliant.

    Love the new Neue Klase electric platform is a game changer for BMW, but the design of this new iX3 that is standing on it is big miss.😢😢, really hope that the i3 that is coming next will be much better looking, throwback to the great looking BMW models 😊🤟🤟⚡⚡

    Surprised by the steering wheel love, I thought it was weird! I had an odd shaped wheel in a Peugeot, it wasn’t intuitive like a normal round wheel. It always took up thinking space, about where your hands need to be, when twirling it around. Those shapes on the BMW wheel look like they would need the same sort of thought.

    Great review. And nice to see you’re not banging on about efficiency when it’s impossible to tell on such a test. I really like the car. It’s a head turner and seems to have found the balance between advanced tech but doing it in a way that it aids the owner and doesn’t hinder!

    I am sure this is a stunning car. Having changed my EV from a big mile ioniq 6 with 300plus range to a much more humble and bleep free Citroen e-C4 with around 200 mile range I realise unless you do 200miles a day most of us don’t need huge range. Smaller battery equals lighter car which is more efficient. And as I only do a 200 mile journey once a month I simply charge on route while I have a wee and a coffee 10 or 20 mins later I’m off again. Smaller battery also seems to charge quickly because I’m only adding 20 to 30 kw. Win win.

      You have it precisely. When I upgraded from a 52 kWh Zoe I considered the Ioniq 5 but in the end went for a Citroën ë-C4X. At first glance the Citroën seems far less capable – 54 kWh instead of 77 kWh – but you practically never need that 77 kWh battery and you’re dragging around its weight all the time. The Hyundai’s battery is 50% larger but that equates to only 10-15% extra range in the real world and it’s a lot less efficient. For day-to-day use you’re wasting an awful lot of energy driving the Hyundai.

      A car like the Citroën which can do a comfortable 200 miles in anything but the coldest weather hits a sweet spot of battery size. We’ve done long trips in it and as you say, by the time you’ve had a wee and a coffee it’s ready to be off again. The battery lasts for a lot longer than it is sensible to drive for without a break. That’s all you need.

    I’m sorry maybe game changing for BMW and a good step up for BMW however the efficiency, considering you were in a resonably warm environment, of 3 miles/kWh is not that great my Ioniq 5 (2023 model year) does around 3.6 on the motorway even loaded up for holiday – So I truly hope they’ve not just thrown a large battery with not so great energy density at this car as that really is not the way to get decent range – efficiency really is the ultimate answer to decent range – The Irony is that the current long range ‘Juniper’ Model Y can probably get better real world range with an 80kWh usable battery… It is good to see they have done a good job with the charging speed so credit where credit is due 🙂 I still say it’s over priced like all BMWs but hey ho on the 2nd hand market it might be that bit better value 🙂

      Efficiency varies based on driving style and temp.
      A series of journalists jumping into a car with 470bhp for a couple of hours each, are unlikely to be driving in a way to show the efficiency in the best light 💡

      After 23k miles, I’ve averaged 3.5 miles /kWh in my bigger, heavier and less efficient BMW iX, so 4+ will be easy in this.

    I can’t get over the Star Wars-inspired design, with so many unnecessary angles and random details—like that hideous steering wheel and the angled center screen. Plus, there’s plenty of space for the nonexistent engine under that oversized bonnet. Too pricey and way too fast.

    I am very confused how manufacturers put on 21 or 22 inch tyres and yet everyone, including manufacturers, know that a reduced size tyre improves economy and comfort. So 19 inch or even 18 inch would be better. Is it down to eye appeal or because the cars are so heavy. Just don’t understand these decisions.
