Getting to see the Dakar rally was a huge bucket list item for me. I was welcomed by Audi UK to join the team in the desert for two of the very best motorsport days of my life. First I got a motorists perspective by driving an adjusted Audi Q5 in the sand. I actually did give a feel for what the drivers and riders go through for 2 week. We got to see a few of the Classic Dakar bike, automobiles and trucks prior to heading to the bivouac and the Team Audi garage.
We had a full technical briefing and trip of the garage and cars and truck. A distinct racecar with 2 Formula E motors and a 52kWh battery for propulsion and a 2 litre DTM TFSI engine running as a generator the RS Q etron is perhaps the most complex race car in the world.
