VW's ever-popular small-sized SUV has actually had a facelift, and Mat's ready to learn what's changed and whether it can take on rivals like the Ford Puma and Kia Sportage.

When it pertains to the design, there are numerous changes over the previous edition. We have actually got our hands on the R-Line edition, which has a couple of sportier elements than the entry-level car. Up front, there's a full-length light bar, and it likewise comes with an aggressive lower bumper and matrix LED headlights. Along the side this edition features black window surrounds, contrasting door mirrors and chrome roof bars. At the back, there's another full-length light bar and (fortunately!) no fake exhausts to be discovered anywhere!

There are a number of updates on the inside too. This R-Line edition comes with ambient lights built into the dash on the passenger side, and this vehicle is likewise specced with an updated infotainment screen! It's a very clear screen, although sadly, it can be a bit laggy at times. The climate controls are likewise managed through the screen as well. There's a large digital motorist's display, and the gear selector has transferred to a stalk on the steering wheel.

There are a couple of engine choices offered. The entry-level is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol that can provide 110hp, while another 1.5-litre turbo fuel can put down 150hp. There's also a 2.0-litre variation with 204hp which will feature four-wheel drive. Then for the very first time ever, there'll be two various self-charging hybrids readily available! And lastly, there'll be an R version with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 333hp!

Prices are TBC but it's likely the new T-Roc is going to cost from ₤ 32,000 which is over ₤ 2,000 more that the outbound model, so is it worth the upgrade? You'll require to stick to Mat to see for yourself!

      @chrishart8548why do you lie like this? I checked official Skoda brochures for UK market, base Karoq in 2019 was 22k, in 2025 its 30k. Considering there was an insane inflation between those years the prices obviously follow that, but your numbers are just bunch of nonsense.

  6. @JBthemanwithcars Avatar

    The pricing of the new T-Roc will make PCP payments around £100 a month more than the old car. That’s out of many current owners budgets.

    1. @chrishart8548 Avatar
      @chrishart8548

      Probably just ask for a bigger deposit (trade in) or just increase the guaranteed future value and kick the can down the road. Maybe car gets damaged outside of normal wear and tear. Or the owner goes over on milage and has to buy the car out. Or even does under milage and the car is actually worth more.

      @ikbenjevader191 To use the automatic parking feature, you need a smartphone. Older drivers tend to be less comfortable with phone integration, so many never connect their Volkswagen app at all.

      Still, poor parking skills exist across all age groups, so that argument doesn’t really hold up.

      I saw somewhere the experiment – they asked driver to do some not too difficult climate setting change in one of those screens on wheels new cars vs 2004 year Volvo V70. Both cars were driving same legal speed. Volvo went 350 meters while the driver was doing the operation via buttons. Other car drove 1300 meeters while driver were doing in going via screen.

      @oskar6661 In year 2000 average UK salary was 17,800 GBP, in 2025 it is 39,000 GBP. So yeah, I’m not sure if I really would want to go back to year 2000 if I was a Brit. Although admittedly Britain did screw itself up with Brexit, so it’s not as wealthy and prosperous as it would have been otherwise.

    5. @kokibr91 Avatar
      @kokibr91

      @oskar6661 I am not so sure. Cost is extremely high now yes and salaries don’t follow the inflation in reality, but think about what you could have afforded back in 2000 and now? Worst case it will be the same. Probably only the property price has risen exponentially. It is a normal economic process. If you work in a VW factory you would think it is actually cheap because your salary depends on it.
