Evening folks, as an EV3 owner, I’ve been impressed, it’s got a few quirkie bits, but it becomes more “space age” when driving it in near dark conditions when the interior starts to light up more. Still not sure on the “Nan’s chopping board” table between the front seats. 😂 how about sharing your VW (Porsche) 911 thoughts…I thought PED should’ve got a “KIM” haircut whilst in Korea….could you imagine Mrs PEDs face 😂😂😂😂

Evening pete, think they need to raise the limit on the small ice car numbers to 10,000 units, as at the moment even mclaren would have to sell less cars to fit this new change

Ev’s definitely have a place but they should be offered alongside ice cars not replace them, it will be a disaster and an expensive disaster at that if the government don’t change their ridiculous all electric position.Particularly if you can’t have a home charger. With more development there could be zero emission engines

I drive an MG4 Electric, it works for me. It is NOT the solution, just a part of it (but don’t talk about anything remotely sensitive, it’s always listening!).

I got a model upgrade at the same cost before Christmas because the dealer was so desperate to hit their target.

TBH I’ve not watched any of the EV videos from any of the You-tubers for about 3 or 4 years. You’re not the only one.

i wonder if the general despair is having an impact on your viewing numbers – the dream stuff should always be good, but the large or high cost cars, like the ionic 9, might loose some appeal…..maybe more smaller stuff might do better..so maybe the ev3 would be a good comparison . PS agree in general that moving goal posts dont help anyone. seems like the bigger issues are now an escalating illogical trade war and not regulations or climate…

I agree Pete, cars from the states are substandard compared to European and Far Eastern models! 😜

What I find frightening is that relatively normal, relatively affordable cars are now 50k plus – for example, hona civic type r. I’m convinced the creep is due to fact manufacturers are having to think ahead financially and fill up the coffers ready to start paying those fines and still stand half a chance of fundin* some research and development.

Hello everyone, I agree that targets should be maintained in order to manufacturers to adequately make plans. As for what’s happening with tariffs, I totally disagree. There should be no tariffs and let the real free market make the determination. As for EVs, I really like them. However, there are some ICE vehicles I’ll always adore. Thank you for all you do! Cheers, Mates!

When I was just starting off with cars(first was a Ford Anglia) a little known Japanese company called Datsun had just started selling their Cherries & Sunny’s, there was a cost of living crisis then & these cars which were cheaper & better than anything made in the UK & were snapped up & we all know what’s happened since! The same is happening now with cheap electric cars from Asia taking over from European makes & if the gov doesn’t delay the stopping of ice powered cars instead of tinkering as they are customers will have to buy electric & as you say due to the cost of living costs they will buy the cheaper(but good) Asian models!!! As I write this Trump has just suspended his tariffs(not China) due to his stock mkt tanking so maybe a glimmer of hope for sensible discussions to start! But the car tariffs appear to have stayed at 25% so not good news for Land Rover etc! Keep sending the videos out Pete, yours are always interesting & maybe Türkiye might be fun!

He suspended tariffs because that’s all part of the Deal/Game. Seen how many countries are now flocking to deals with the USA?

Have watched the three videos in question and found them very informative. My preference is for small and cheaper electric vehicles, but I do watch ICE road tests as I was a petrolhead prior to converting to EV driving.

I think that if they keep to 2030 then there will be no vehicle manufacturers and dealers left in the UK. They can’t afford to discount new cars and pre-register cars to keep up with the EV mandate. Although it will not be only the manufacturers, it will be the suppliers to them that will go, along with all the jobs. Like you said the goverment have not got a clue.

I do think part of the problem with Governments coming up with EV / Net Zero mandates is they are made by people who have no clue to manufacturing anything. Changing the goal posts has a big impact on any business, let alone car manufacturing.

Regarding small manufacturers being able to continue using ice….. the problem there will be where will they get those engines?….
Aston Martin use some amg/Mercedes engines.
    Morgan use BMW….
So if Mercedes and BMW suddenly stop making ice engines…. because they have to be all electric…. the supply if power plants will dry up for those smaller manufacturers…
