Still enjoy the look of the bigster though – though the name does make me chuckle 😅

I like the colour! More purple cars, please, manufacturers! There’s a bloke in my neighbourhood who drives an ancient 2012 i-MiEV that’s painted purple. Struggling and sweating up the hill on my pedal bike…I can but look up in envy. A purple EV! Yes, please!
This vehicle would be nice on the US mainland. The sheer driving range of a diesel car would be lovely on some monster-sized road trips. Back in my days on the US mainland (my version of “old man noises”), even though my Honda CRX could easily go 500 miles on less than 9 US gallons of fuel, I still wondered what driving a diesel Mercedes with their 700+ miles of range would be like.
These VW variants on the CUV/SUV theme really allow a customer to split hairs in terms of buying just EXACTLY the right amount of cargo and passenger space. There is so much choice! However…the purple colour of THIS variant makes it a winner for me.

Not keen on the wheel arches but looks good overall.

Apart from the colour, there is nothing much that attracts me to this car Ped. It’s going to be expensive for sure 40k plus, so will attract extra tax. I feel that there will be a limited appeal to UK customers after the Government’s forthcoming tax raid on the UK public! Seven seaters rear seats are for kids or midgets only. VW along with other car makers is in a precarious position at the moment until the EV bunfight is sorted out. Wouldn’t like to guess the cost of a replacement headlight ! Good review as ever Ped 👍😎

i think the Dacia Bigster is better when you consider value or possibly when you don’t.

Love the inclusion of the dimensions image, it can be a pain to find boot sill heights online (large dog owner problem)

Looks like a great bit of kit, but here in NL it will be ridiculously expensive. I’ve just hired a Mercedes GLB diesel in Scotland and I think diesels should make a comeback.Inventing a carbon capture for ICE vehicles must be more cost effective than digging up half of Africa to produce a battery. We did it with particulates, we can do it with carbon.

No it’s not. CCS at the moment is a red herring. It doesn’t work very well.

@@dimsoneill neither did egr valves, particulate filters or catalysts, but some sort of carbon removal will still be cheaper and quicker than trying to invent a sustainable battery.

Glad to see a new SUV with a diesel option, though suspect a six cylinder version might be a better fit with the size. Look forward to your road test.

That looks like a decent proposition and that is a stunning colour. 20″ wheels for me also.

I reckon the Cupra or Skoda equivalents will be cheaper and a lot better…..based on VWs recent efforts. Keep the good work up Ped!

This will sell well. It’s a good size for the modern family. Love that purple…… Off to write a letter to Santa.

The 5 seater looks the best, also the 100klm battery. Hybrid. Like the design and to 2 tone interior. Another great and informative review. Brilliant

Made a meal of the 3rd row of seats. Not sure it was necessary Pete.
Seems a good 5seater with awd

The new Tiguan does not offer 4 motion PHEV but y mentioned a 4 motion PHEV with Tayron, did y hear this directly from VW?

I’d consider a 5 seater for the huge boot space. Some car camping and family camping trips should be good.

That 7 seat configuration is the same as the Ford S-Max. The third row are occasional seats but kids like them as they are different! Lol

The 7 seater is just like the Tiguan Allspace (I own one) – its for kids only.
We have been out to a local restaurant with 2 other couples (neighbours), so 6 of us – one adult in the 3rd row (me) sat side ways – I wouldn’t want to sit there for more than a fews miles – its also claustrophobic as well.
We have owned VW’s for the last 30yrs (mainly Golfs & Passats) and the 2 reasons I bought the Tiguan is now that I’ve retired is its higher so you just slide in (no bending down) and I do woodwork, so can just about fit 3m lengths of wood in it without having to use roof bars.
The last thing is, we do at least one touring holiday in Europe (from the UK) per year with the daughter & granddaughter, so 4 of us with enough space for luggage (deep boot) with no need for a roof box.
I think I’ll stick with the Allspace as I think this will be priced over 40K, which will restrict sales in the UK (additional tax band).
