VW Arteon R Shooting Brake – Vast, Fast and a real Blast ! | 4K

Turns out the Shooting brake is large, fast and a real blast to drive. It has the very same engine as the Golf R, 320 horse power and 4 wheel drive. The certainly ascertains the roadway rapidly and the bootspace is substantial. The big question is can I fit my bike in the boot?

The big obstacle for me is the price of the Shooting brake. Can the style, construct and performance live up to that?

Have to say it does tick a lot of boxes, totally agree about the switch gear don’t like that format

I have this car in the hatchback form in same colour with same alloys.

The alloys are actually 20 inch, not 21 inch

Also the top speed is definitely not limited to 155 but rather 167.

Great looking car. It’s got something of a big, 4 door Scirocco about it from the rear 3/4 view.

A very handsome looking car but it’s such a shame it’s getting replaced with the original Passat , A U-turn for VW ? Great Video Pete 💯💯🙏🙏👍👍

I always have to remove the front wheel of my fat tire MTB!
Being a continuous estate car owner I quite like this one. But just checking the spec list, and you have to ADD the jack and tool kit for £15! But I have added £7670.00 for extras, including 20″ Rosario Dark graphite matt alloy wheels and an alloy spare wheel (£515), (will it be the same as the Rosarios?). And it seems you have to pay extra for a space saver spare wheel anyway, otherwise you just get a “Tyre mobility kit”? But hey, Carwow found me a deal that saves £6852 off the original £55,540, (most of the extras) so just £42318! Hah! Almost exactly what I still owe on my mortgage! Great fun! Sticking with the good ol’ Astra for now though. Oh and personally I will avoid leather at all costs! 😁

    Hi Ped
With you on looks and styling, I like it and as you say rather unique in its class. Certainly very practical, other than perhaps a minor point when it comes to parking in the average super market car park! Difficult to sum up, but once again VW has not quite nailed it in this segment. It is a rather expensive car in a very competitive section, just misses out on a podium place.

The seats look fantastic, I like the way the rear seats go right up close to the roof line giving the rear passengers privacy.

It’s a really cool car! A bit Mercedes estate feeling over it. Not for me pricewise though.
Love your videos! Would be really nice, if possible, if you could write out metric measurements when you talk about lengths. I think you have a big international audience. I always have to sit with a converter when I watch British and American content. Well it works, but it would be more enjoyable. Doug Demuro does it. Anyways, thank you for great content!

Great car! I think that despite its price tag in a competitive class, it stands out with its looks and practicality. Will not be continued, sadly.
Thanks for a great video once more. Cheers, Tom

Thanks for the great and informative review 👍. I would be interested in hearing your opinion on the Skoda Octavia VRS estate as well and seeing how it compares to the Arteon.
Also, I would like to know, if you could by chance review a Volvo V60 T8 Recharge, should Volvo also be part of the Hendy Group. Thanks once again for all the work and effort that you’re putting into your content. Keep up the great work 👌

Agree with you 100%…. Great looking car (especially in that colour scheme) and one which will cover all bases for most people. Practical daily transport but one which will turn heads and put a smile on your face to drive… the perfect ‘petrolhead dad’ car….. except for the price! Knock £10k off the prices and they would sell like the proverbial hot cakes…..

Great Dash layout, functional and no tack on screen on top of dash, good to see screen integrated.

Wow couldn’t believe the price new, thought these were around 50k tops fully loaded. 64k is far too much. Can pick one up used 20k on clock for mid 30s. Good video Ped

Great video Pete…I’m 59 years old and not heard the words Shooting Brake since I was 10 years old and like you my Dad had a Hillman hunter, brings back so many memories 👍🏻

That was a really useful video Pete. I’ve a ’62 plate A7 and I love it. You can get two road bikes in it! However it won’t last forever and the new Audi range will be ridiculously expensive. I’ve sat in one of these in a VW showroom and it feels very much like the A7, so it ticks lots of boxes for me. It also looks really cool. Thanks again for the great review👍🏻👍🏻

I have the salon and the boot is massive and still good mpg for the performance ,I’m getting 32 on short runs if you don’t put your foot down

Its a great looking car especially in rhat colour.
I’ve got the Volvo v90 cross country D4 estate, with Polestar upgrade. May not be as fast but personally, and I know it’s subjective, I prefer the Volvo and think it maybe slightly bigger and more spacious, and my interior knocks spots off the VW.

The Arteon is a really impressive car. They don’t sell the shooting brake in the US and, unfortunately, i believe they are about to discontinue the sale of Arteon here after this year (which is sad). If I had a family and I could get one at a good price point, I would certainly consider getting one.
