Toyota Yaris GR Sport – Sporty Style and Efficiency Combined ! | 4K

The Toyota Yaris has had a facelift and I got to drive the GR Sport HEV. The Yaris GR Sport has the sporty styling queues of the GR Yaris but has a hybrid drivetrain. What is new and how does it drive?

This GR Sport Yaris reminds me a little of the Yaris T Sport (1.5 vvti) that was on sale during the early and mid 2000’s. It looks a great little car – all the looks, good performance and lots of rely.

Looks good. As with other manufacturers I wish the higher end models would be available with smaller wheel options. Take the new C-HR for example. Want the GR version of that and you have to have the 20″ wheels. The wheels on that Yaris seem a bit too big too. Very nice but even if the ride is okay, smaller wheels are preferred by some people.

Also more sensible for our roads

Ah… That CVT moaning sound. Reminds me of my 2001 Prius. I liked that car, and I suspect I’d like this one even more. The EV range is literally leagues better in this; my car literally couldn’t travel ONE league before the ICE had to start up. Here on O’ahu, it would be possible to get all one’s daily commuting chores done without needing to awaken the ICE. Nice!

II think you are pretty much spot on with your report. I have one and would agree with what you have said, although it can be a little too stiff and β€œcrashy” at times for our roads in this country. Having previously owned a GR Yaris, it could easily be considered as a warm version of the GR Yaris and for a lot of people, a more sensible choice. The mpg of the car is quite exceptional, usually 60mpg plus most of the time, even with some brisk driving! It is equally at home on the motorway or city driving. It certainly surprised me.

Another enjoyable video. We had old Yaris from 2003 where legroom was poor and I’m 6’3”. Think I might fit in that one better. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

I had one for a week. Very good on fuel. And enough room for 6ft plus.

Good to see bread and butter cars revived. Do you know what engine and how many cylinders.
    Good review Peter!

60-80 mph is easily achievable with these. I think the design spec is the sweet spot. Looks good, ride is softer and quite a bit cheaper to buy. You get adaptive cruise, climate control and all the gadgets too

Was waiting for this one, Pete! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ» It is a sensible car, that will do a great job of getting you around economically for years and years without the slightest problem. No, they don’t come cheap, but like most other small cars its size. Thank you πŸ™
    Cheers, Tom
