The best supercar of all-time?

Mat is satisfying a legend!

He's flown over to America, and he's got his hands on the legendary ! It is among his dream vehicles, but the concern is, will it live up to its famous status?

Well, let's start with the looks … And what a looker it is! Around the back, it has a definitely renowned shape, with round tail lights, an enormous spoiler, and 3 exhaust outlets! You can also see into the engine bay through the light-weight plexiglass cover on the top. Along the side you have substantial side vents to feed the engine, and the iconic shape continues around the front, with everyone's preferred feature … Pop-up headlights!

Step inside, and the F40 has a truly old but timeless interior. It comes equipped with wind-down windows, no wheel adjustments, and a number of simple buttons for the climate controls on the dash. There's felt lining across the dash and centre console, and the red-lined sports seats are still pretty comfortable.

When it concerns performance, the F40 is equipped with a glorious 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 that can produce 480hp and 580Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox, and when it was first launched it was the fastest production worldwide, with a top speed of 201mph!

Back in the day, an F40 would cost you around ₤ 160,000, however if you're seeking to purchase one now you 'd be hard-pressed to find one costing less than ₤ 2,000,000! So is it worth it? You'll need to stick with Mat and see on your own!

      The American version is almost 200kg heavier and has less hp than the European version of the F40!! The real power is ever more than the claimed by factory A curious fact is that the first units of the F40 produced in 1987 “they speak of the first 20 to 25” have the same power as the 288 GTO EVO and are even lighter!! In tests, they exceeded 370km/h but did not pass the traffic regulations of the time, so they were modified in the units produced later!! Some of the things you said that are enoing are only in the American version, including the belts on the seats, and those uglier seats, the electronic signals too!

  5. @ChloroxBanana Avatar
    @ChloroxBanana

    The motorized seat belt was used on North American cars in the early 1990s. Regulations required cars to have a supplemental restraint system. Those that didn’t have a driver’s side airbag in the steering wheel had this type of motorized seat belt. My mother’s Saturn SL1 had them. They were fairly uncommon. When I used to go out on a date in the Saturn with someone new, she would invariably be freaked out by the belts (and the cheapness of the car), but would laugh when I told her to imagine that we were in a rocket ship.
