The old Diesel VRS was a bit of a sleeper.

I tried a Monte Carlo a month ago,and didn’t like it. Thought it sounded like the window was slightly open, build quality. Your review of the Clio Alpine hybrid was spoy on,that’s what I have ordered.
Have only just found your channel and really enjoying it,reviews are really good and informative. But more normal cars than high end please lol

I was thinking that ‘130’ and the stripes were a nod to the old Estelle 130 rally cars – back in the day when Skoda was not taken seriously in the UK. How times have changed!

A affordable, fun car at last! I do have a Monte Carlo myself and it is a lot of fun as well. Get great satisfaction out of it on our winding moorland roads eeking everything out of it.

Glad to see you driving in my neck of the woods.I live in Macclesfield and lost count of the number of times I have driven the Cat and Fiddle Road to Buxton.Fabia 130 looks a good car and it looks like you enjoyed the drive.

Hope they Bring out a vrs with over 200bhp. I own a octavia vrs 23 plate but had a mk1 fabia vrs it always put a smile on my face and surprised alot of motorists.

how times have changed, 176hp is now warm hatch territory, where as 20 some years ago the 2.0L Fiesta ST (which had 150bhp) was fairly decent/huge/hot power back then

This is what us petrol heads want , a proper car with an individual look unlike so many electric cars which could be from any number of manufacturers all looking the same as if designed by a child with a ruler. Lovely to see sebsible instruments too unlike the fashion for rectangular screens right across the dash with everything buried within menus & sub menus. A really great review Pete & good looking car that deserves to sell well while we can still enjoy motoring in its pure form.

I remember overtaking a Skoda, uphill in Bohemia, with my L/Rover Discovery whilst towing a large caravan. (1990) Skoda has come a long way since.

I love Skoda. I’m on Octavia No. 4. This 130 looks fabulous.

Reminds me of my old 2015 Polo Blue GT (DSG) a fantastic and very underrated car that kept up with Mk7 GTI around town . A car I strongly regret selling . So much fun !

Fantastic to see manufacturers again making small peppy turbo charged cars, which make B road blasting a pleasure .

Hi Pete! I really enjoy you test driving more affordable cars as well, and this was very interesting.
I know the 1.5 150 very well as had an Audi A3 then Golf 8 powered by it. No doubt the 177 feels a little faster, especially at higher revs. The Fabia looks great and is also lighter, and as you pointed out, rightly so, it is an engine that can do it all. Not sensational, but it can overtake several cars very swiftly and put a smile on your face whilst not breaking the law. Not to mention consumption which was never shocking even when driven enthusiastically. A very good compromise.
    Thank you.
    Cheers, Tom

Its alway MORE fun to drive a slower car fast, that a fast car slow.
0-60 time. Remember the Fiat 130 Abarth? 0-60 7.7 seconds.
Didn’t Skoda use to have green calipers as their rally colours were green.
