    That ZF single clutch gearbox is a masterpiece of engineering, I don’t know why car companies are bothered with double clutch boxes, they are especially snappy around town driving.

      It’s a torque converter, not a single clutch. But yeah I agree with your sentiment, from the DCTs I’ve driven I wouldn’t pick one over the ZF8. Its shift speed is easily good enough and it can’t be caught with its pants down in manual mode like DCTs can.

      That being said, I haven’t driven a PDK yet so I’ll reserve final judgment until the day I will (next week actually). Maybe that’s the gearbox that changes my mind.

      The ZF f.ex first gen F90 M5 was horrible. It has better software now but still lacks to the DCT in so many aspects.

    The pickup on that A45S is surprisingly good for being a tiny engine with a big turbo strapped to it.
    Also, can we appreciate how good RWD launch controls have gotten? Less than a decade ago RWD cars weren’t even in the same zipcode as AWD cars from a standstill.

      Rwd is fine on a dry surface with summer temperatures, but even on a dry surface in winter it would be a different story.

      @Paul Stevens absolutely correct, in bad weather AWD will always be king. There’s no defeating physics.

      I just find it surprising what a long way manufacturers have come in terms of modulating power. On that note I’d actually love to see an old RWD car compared to a new one in the wet.

      The a45 should be faster. 421hp is 421hp it doesn’t matter which engine, especially when accelerate hard.
