Living with the Porsche Macan Turbo – No Hassle EV Ownership IS POSSIBLE !

I spent a week with the Porsche Macan Turbo. I did a great deal of miles and it actually wasn't tough. Could to Macan Turbo make the best everyday chauffeur efficiency EV?

That blind spot ambient light is genius

Love the front of the Macan Turbo but not a fan of the rear as it is a bit bland IMO

Please tell me you came up with Volt n; Bolt? 😊 Great video as always! There is a high spec one on Autotrader with 5k miles for £104k and a load of 74/75 plate Turbo’s between £85k and £90k. Not that I can afford one though 😅

Blind spot ambient lighting has been available on my Cupra Formentor for years.

Surprised you didn’t change the efficiency to mi/kWh in the PCM settings right at the start of your loan! Love the colour and I think the Macan EV makes the current ICE version look a bit old fashioned. I’ve had my J1 Taycan 4S for about six months now and absolutely love it. I’m averaging 3.0 mi/kWh overall, but now the temperature has dropped it’s down to around 2.5 similar to what you achieved on this test.

I have Renault Megane Etech. My best just pottering around in Summer was 4.2, and in Winter 3.7. Had the car for 15 months, so have seen all weathers in the North of Scotland.

My BMW iX – 4 miles / kWh in the summer, 2.5 miles / KWh in the Winter. So 280 miles summer, 177 miles in the Winter.
The average after 23k miles -> 3.5 miles / kWh.

Nice video Ped I prefer your Macan over that EV version.

As I get older I like the fact that I need to stop for 20-30 minutes for a volt and bolt, gives me time to stretch those aching joints and have a comfort break!

Nice work, Pete. Still wouldn’t buy one though. Certainly not at that price anyway…

(Props for using the right motorway lane names, btw!)

Hi Ped, you’re Porsche just looks more Porsche like. Why do evs have to look like a Lego bricks?

Great video, one thing though – how big of a difference there actually is between the WLTP quoted ranges and what you can actually achieve in real world terms!🤷‍♂️

For any EV, just take off 20% off the WLTP for summer range, and ~20% more in winter.

Great review as always. The Turbo is just too much in that car, unusable performance and saps range. I am genuinely interested in the new iX3 and when you can get your hands on that next year after launch. Already sold out for 2026 in a number of countries and could be a replacement for my Macan GTS.

Hello Peter! What chance you drive the very car I have been wondering about…although my configuration did land at £136200….but if you go bonkers then it could land at just short of £150,000!!! You have answered many questions but I’ll summarise my thoughts.

Looks….in the right specification, colour and wheels, I think it looks much more modern than the older car…and that is a 2014 styled car!
Performance….a 4S will be far more than I could ever use

Range….Hmmm…your test was as good as it gets but it did dominate your mind for the whole journey..petrol would not…just notice and fill up. In Cornwall, charging is still far from easy…over all, an EV is hopeless down there and no SuperFast charging to be found…a working set is a stroke of luck!

Interior…very option dependant matter….your Macan still looks good and I miss my 2013 Mercedes SL which was just perfect as regards dash design. I do like the EV interior though…carefully chosen!

Would I buy one?…well ICE is under attack…but better in some ways…and to me, an EV has a special feel…ICE in normal motoring is not the future however much we hate EV…so do I give in, accept the changes and restrictions….BUT depreciation makes that a huge decision…going by used Turbo prices…£136K is £95K at 3000 miles….OWWW.

Decision…if I can get a good 4S for £65000 then I might jump into this complex cold bath…but a nagging doubt tells me that a 23/25 plate GTS for similar money might be a better choice….fir now..in 2/3 years, that might be every bit a disaster as the EV!!

    Enough…Gorn! R🤔🤔😱😃😃😃😃😃

Well said on the ‘Turbo’ spec.
If I had £1 for every time I read someone posting ‘OmG IT dEoSn’T hAvE a TuRbO’…yeah sure, Welcome to 2020…..and it’s a spec level !

Still very happy to have ordered a new Macan GTS (ICE) into NZ before they become extinct.

I drive the Macan EV 4S for one year and I enjoy the car with its look and all its options so much. Not regret this buy one second. Pure joy and comfort but of course it is not a 911 GT car. Total different purpose.
