Is this Skoda the perfect FAST family car?

This is the Skoda Kodiaq vRS!

It's the 'hot' variation of Skoda's family-friendly 7-seater SUV. The concern is, if you remain in the market for a performance car but need space for the kids, should you consider this brand-new vRS? Let's take a better look.

In terms of style, it remains fairly comparable to the standard Kodiaq, with a few small updates. Up top, you have a black grille, a more aggressive lower bumper, side breathers, and obviously, some vRS badging. Along the side, there are brand-new 20" alloy wheels, along with contrasting mirrors and window surrounds. At the back, there's a full-length reflector strip, an aggressive rear bumper, and bigger, exaggerated exhaust surrounds.

On the within, the design mostly mirrors the standard car, with a few minor distinctions. There's a 3-spoke wheel, red stitching throughout the cabin, and red colouring on the digital dials. There are comfy, body-hugging sports seats, as well as aluminium pedals. Being the vRS, it also includes the top-of-the-range big infotainment screen.

Under the bonnet, you'll discover the very same 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo as found in the VW Golf GTI. It produces 265hp and 400Nm, along with four-wheel drive.

The brand-new Kodiaq vRS begins with ₤ 53,690. So is it worth it? And more notably, does it offer enough performance to encourage you to splash the cash over the basic cars and truck? Stick to Mat to see on your own!

      @@sivx17 that’s strange. I have the 2020 model with 193bhp which should be the same and it’s definitely slow. Maybe you got used to it? Comparing it to my Audi or even our older Yaris it takes 2-3 secs to lift off the road

    4. @sivx17 Avatar
      @sivx17

      2-3 seconds? I don’t have that issue. Throttle response is good. Perhaps its your car? I know several kodiaq owners (2017 to 2018 models) as well and none of them say anything about slow response.

      Via odbeleven or similar you can change the throttle response from Skoda to VW or even Audi. Apparently that makes it more responsive.

    This is what success does to certain folks. These reviews have been reduced to a disinterested form of disrespect to what is arguably one of the most dependable and reliable brand on the market. It seems that if you are not driving 6 figure cars then it’s not worth your time. Never burn the bridge they say…. I’ll buy a Skoda above a VW anyday. It’s simply better value for money..

    1. @gametekmods Avatar
      @gametekmods

      Exactly this. Every time Matt reviews a Skoda it feels like he can’t help but slip in a dig or act a bit disinterested. Skoda has proven itself as one of the most reliable and value for money brands out there, yet it’s almost like he brushes that aside because it doesn’t have a flashy six figure badge. Not everyone needs or wants a luxury car, Skoda delivers practicality, dependability, and sensible pricing, which is exactly why so many people buy them. A fair review should highlight that rather than downplay it.

    2. @jonathanharrison8713 Avatar
      @jonathanharrison8713

      A bit of Skoda inferiority complex going on. I like Skodas and know how reliable they are. I could not hear any Skoda dissing in that review. He was just making it clear that the VRS is not worth the extra £s compared to the Diesel version.
      He was dissing buying all that fake leather and loudspeaker engine noise. It has beans, but it’s kind of pointless when the cheaper version is so competent.

Sure price is quite steep but dealers are offering quite a discounts (in czechia you can get like 15-20% off) which is kinda best deal you can buy if you are into this segment (I should go for mine next month – showroom one, 10k km milage, price is 1231000 czk, which is shy to 44000 gbp, which is at least for me rather nice price.
