      There usually is. It’s just not as in your face because you basically never use it. My Mach E can. But it’s buried in the settings. I didn’t know it could until I googled it.

      I think it’s stupid you can’t sometimes, but I believe it’s usually because the wheels are attached to the motor (for regeni believe) and it can cause issues when the battery is depleted to move it like that. Something along those lines

      For a good reason. Good luck using that full tank of diesel on a dead planet. What’s the point in having that much range when it’s just for an annual road trip anyway and otherwise never utilized? Well hey, synthetic fuels are still a possibility to keep ICE around, I’m not against ICE I’m a lifetime enthusiast, just against fossil fuels.

    I have fond memories of getting 320 miles minimum in my 1.4l honda civic 23 years ago driving normally. Car was about £14,000. 40 litre petrol tank. Had it for 15 years no issues.

      @@juraj_b Actually depending on trim, it would have all those things you mentioned, and because it was about “1.2 tons” as you said, it was more nimble and fuel efficient (the average car is now 2.1 tons)..and for 14K with amazing fuel economy, so….well done, you’ve made no point whatsoever.

      So you got 36 miles to the gallon. Drove it for 15 years. Let’s imagine you did a modest 10,000 miles a year. Using current fuel costs…that would cost you over £25,000 in just fuel. An EV charged at home would only cost £3,000.

    Nearly 8 hours to Drive 330 miles. It would be interesting to see the total time taken with comfort breaks each driver had to take driving a full work shift. This would then show how much of overall time could have been used to recharge the car without eating into the journey time.

    I think it’s wrong to rank them by total range, as it depends on battery size. They should be ranked by % of claimed range or km/miles per kwh.

    That way all electric cars compete more evenly, as some electric cars have larger batteries than others.

      Was just about to post the same – you can’t rate them on how far they go when they all start with different ranges. Rank them on efficiency and getting the most miles per unit of energy, just the same as we have been doing for decades for ICE cars (mpg or km/l)

      You never hear someone in a ICE car saying it can go 1000km on on tank, and another say mine kan only get 600km. Well duuuh. One tank is 70liters the other are 40 liters

      In the EV era, range really matters most. It’s not just about efficiency per kWh because at the end of the day, drivers care about how far they can actually go on a single charge. Bigger battery = longer range, and that’s a real advantage. In EVs, the larger the capacity, the better . more flexibility, less charging anxiety, and more practicalit

    I recently drove from Nottingham to Aberdeen and back again on one and a half tanks worth of diesel in my 21 year old 1.9TD VW Caddy van. When I did stop for diesel it took me around 7 minutes or so to fill up and pay, and I had no problem finding a filling station. I bought the van new back in 2004 and while it may not have a fancy screen or touch controls, it does have climate control, cruise control, heated seats and electric windows, it also has a decent digital radio (aftermarket) wihich also accepts my ipod. It went in for it’s MOT earlier this week, it just needed a back box on the exhaust and it passed, and that’s with 252000 miles on the clock. It still drives nice because I’ve had it serviced on the button and look after it, and I reckon my old van is actually better for the envrioment than any electric car, because while a lot of folk swap their car / van every 3 to 5 years or so therefore necessitating a new vehicle to be made with the carbon emmisions that entails, no new van has had to be built for me, it might not be fancy but it does the job and I wonder how many of the electric cars featured in this video will still be driving 21 years from now, or will they even exist?
