Honda Civic Type R Generations DRAG RACE

We have actually got our hands on every generation of , and they will take on over the quarter mile to see simply just how much the Type R has actually evolved because 2001!

Now of course, it must come as not a surprise that the older editions come at a disadvantage when it pertains to power output. If you take a look at the initial EP3, it comes with a 2-litre naturally-aspirated engine (with VTEC!) that can produce 200hp and 196Nm of torque. In comparison, the brand new FL5 includes a 2-litre turbo gas engine that can produce 320hp and 420Nm!

However of course, do not forget that they're all on a level playing field because they're all FWD, and they're all manuals! The concern is, will the brand-new FL5 prove to be worth its eye-watering ₤ 47,000 price?

      @lincslegend6936  That’s one thing you can’t knock.. the ride in those cars, the gear lever right up there on the dash.. revving to 8.2k, sitting low down, firm suspension.. every time I see one on the road it brings back memories..

      @rzrproductions7365  Good luck in finding a decent one.. There’s tons out there, but finding a good ones that’s been taken care of and not ragged is the problem.. Hence I went over to FN2 thinking I would equally enjoy the experience.. but was wrong..

      @Denis Deari Really? Feelings? No. It’s a false equivalency because “just google the horsepower” as you put it (aka omitting the number entirely) REQUIRES the viewer to find an alternate source. There is zero way for the viewer to get the information they want from the video. In contrast, a power-weight ratio is not directly given, but is available based on information in the video. Equating those two things is incorrect.

      they used to race the full mile more often in older videos, but sometimes on faster cars they were running out of space to brake because they were reaching seriously high speeds.

      @265justy I’ve seen a BMW 320i with a Type R badge on it, should that be in the race too?

      As I said in an earlier comment, you’re right, there is literally no point in making a Youtube video about anything unless you have the entire historical catalogue of every version of whatever you’re talking about. In fact, we’ve all entirely wasted our time even clicking on this. You should ask Youtube to refund the ad revenue from the video.

      @Apothecary Terry The lineup was incomplete… The Civic is the Civic.. And the first Civic to have the Type R badge was the EK9.. You could have put the Integra, Accord in the mix here, but that would not be right… Its all about the Civic… Lots off other car brands had the Type R branding before Honda. Mazda, had a Type R RX7 and a Lantis /323F in Japan. Subaru had a Type R Impreza… But I was just focused on all Civics here and no more… Simple…

      @265justy And Carwow were focused on Civic Type Rs available in the country that the channel is based in, simple. Expanding that is expanding that, the only question is where you draw the line and what they did makes total sense without explanation. I’m sure they’d love to have gotten an EK9 and DC2 in there if they were easily available, but that doesn’t make the video wrong.

    The EP3 was not the first Civic Type R. The EK9 was. It may be JDM only, but it was still the first and it would have been good to have one in this video.

    I own a 2003 EP3 Type R. In terms of pace, it just doesn’t compete anymore, but for a little b road source of enjoyment on a sunny day it’s never lost it’s fun factor.

      People have told me that you get used to the power if you have a ”fast” car. So having a car that’s fun in the corners will probably stay fun as long as you enjoy driving quick.

    Honestly I’m a big fan of the FN2 (spaceship one). i love the styling and the fact that it’s the last 3-door civic type r and naturally aspirated. That plus that it’s not that heavy makes it my pick despite the outright speed disadvantage.

      It’s one of the most under ratted cars out there and especially considering you can pick up a clean one for under 5k, sitting in the seats and hearing the roar of vtec just can’t be beaten, numbers and how fast it is isn’t what type r’s are about

      @PJD4875 exactly, they where designed to handle and handle they do! FWD was never intended for quick 0-60 times, this video is kinda missing the point. But what all these Type R’s do beautifully is handle twisty roads/tracks and have a fantastic driving experience

      Agree. It’s the better looking of all those I believe, modern yet not over the top. Nowadays cars have wings and fake everything, that car was the last one to look like a normal-ish car yet you could spot the fact that it was the hot version of it.
