FIRST GLANCE – Abarth 500e ‘Scorpionissima’ – An EV that sounds like an Abarth ! | 4K

In this video we take a first look at the first all electric . The 'Scorpionissima'. With 155 horsepower the Abarth will do 0-60 in 7 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds slower than the most effective Abarth 695, nevertheless the mis-range velocity and track performance of the 500e are in fact much better than the ICE vehicle.

The has a 42kWh battery providing a variety of around 150 miles. It supports 85kw charging giving an 80% charge in simply 35 minutes.

The has 3 drive modes; Turismo, Scorpion Street and Scorpion Track and sounds like a gas Abarth thanks to the innovative external noise generator.

Thanks to Joe at Full Gas Imaginative for the great video camera work and Simon for the remarkable thumbnail!

Totally agree, give it an electric whirr or just leave it quiet.

Love the exterior design and high end interior. Why can’t a subcompact have a luxury interior (if desired)?
The exhaust sound is definitely needed as it’s an Abarth and they were known for their aftermarket exhaust systems. Can I get a double bubble roof? I’m dating myself.

Interesting car , concerned about how the weight is going to effect the car as they have always been about being lightweight but let’s see once you have driven it. I do like the looks though. Great job with the video presentation and smashed it out the park , the TV experience really paying off

    I love it.
I had 4 500/595 and maybe I’d use the sound generator, sometimes.
We are a single car family and the range makes it unsuitable
Yes the price is high, as with all “leccy” cars, maybe the PCPs will be a better bet
I’m sure they’ll be more power and even range in the future

The sound generator would be cool if you could programme in you own noises, much like you could get different voices on sat nav’s in years gone by.
You could have a whole heap of fun with that!!

Agree…. 100%. I would want my A5ooe to sound like the Jetson’s car……how cool would that be ??

      Ya hear me Abarth !!!!

I love your meticulous presentation of the Abarth than I actually like the car, nice content Pete!

I do drive EV as part of my work fleets but nothing is more satisfying when I cold start my BoxEngine and it splutters into life with a cloud of white smoke 💨 like a crack pipe. The metallic gruff that it emits unit the Rev counter settles just above 1000 rpm is a driving ritual that EV cannot provide to a petrol heads’ weekend drive. 😂

Good review. I cannot embrace fake. The price (like nearly all EVs) makes it unattainable. We are going to keep and maintain our petrol 595 – bought new – until we peg it. That, strangely, will be infinitely ‘greener’ than this expensive toy.

Love the car it’s fun what a small car should be as for the noise generator every electric car should have it by law so that people can hear them big problem for many people with hearing disability or those that are blind is you can’t hear electric cars etc it will also help in countryside especially narrow lanes to be able to hear an electric car to avoid collisions and for horse riders dog walkers etc to know one is coming

Excellent video Pete.. I drive an Abarth Scorpioneoro and absolutely love it, this new EV version looks great and given time i may even forgive it for the fake sounds? sadly everything about EV`s is being forced upon us so i can understand why manufacturers are all going this way BUT wouldn`t it be good to see a final ICE version of this new 500 using the “old 595`s mechanical s” before its too late?

Outstanding video Peter. Really loved the 4K, so crisp and clear and detailed, definitely the way ahead if and when you can film with it. The wee Abarth is absolutely stunning, really do love how it looks and the colour. I’m impressed with the interior and like most do struggle with the price, but then lots of electric cars are expensive!
For me, I really love the sound generator, it’s funky and different. I know it’s not for everyone, however it’s a cool, funky and fun wee car so why not have the ability to have fun with the sound. I love gadgets and really do like this one. Can’t wait to see a driving video. Well done Peter 👏🏻☺️👌🏻👍🏻

Very interesting and professional report, although the Abarth seems very expensive compared with the 500e, which has a recorded 0-60 time of 8 seconds dead on several UK-based Youtube channels and as low as 6.95 seconds in one case.
I’ve owned a 500e for over a year and build quality is superb, so I’ll guess the Abarth is the same. But I don’t know how I feel about that fake exhaust noise as I like the sound of an electric motor!

Brilliant review with subtle grey back drop which sets the car off perfectly and so well presented no wonder you do BT training videos. I never thought FIAT would make ALL other EV cars look so boring (Tesla’s already boring enough to look at) . Love the colour but possibly too bright for a driver of my age. Interior looks stunning and at last a manufacturer fitting AC button controls in a cool way under the infotainment screen (listen up manufacturers). Alloy wheels are amazing !
Range might be an issue for some but 80 to 100 miles in winter and 140 miles in summer most probably achievable. What MANY people looking at buying an EV car over look is smaller batteries take less time to charge on 7kw home chargers. Any EV with over 58kwh battery might struggle to charge overnight. If you have a low electricity rate between midnight and 4 am you will only get 28kwh of charge (7kw times 4) so the rest is at a higher rate. If you have a solar array and battery bank then which one do you charge overnight on the cheap rate, the car or the battery ? How many long trips do we really do in the UK, 3 or 4 a year ? Most daily trips / commutes are less than 60 miles.

Owned a ‘New 500’ now for over 13 years, just flew through its MOT and used mainly as a city car, only 49,235 miles (!), so was looking at the 500e when funds allowed or on that ‘Onto’ option. Chuckled at the sound, it is much, much better than both my friends Tesla and next doors hybrid Ford Kugar when they are reversing. Both sound like they’ve got a handful of ball bearings rattling around in the drivetrain as the pedestrian warning! Nicely shot Vlog too👍🇬🇧…

150 mile range is poor, considering this will be practically unacheivable…..and if you take into account that FIAT themselves have said that if you use the heater on the standard 500e, the range will be reduced by around 40%. So that leaves well under 100 miles of range. So we have what is, in practice, a 2+2 that will cost nigh on £40k that makes a ridiculous noise and can’t really take you anywhere but on the weekly shop……which probably won’t fit in it anyway. A city car maybe, but not many living in cities have home charging facilities.

I’d miss changing gear too much but it does seem cool. Price will, no doubt being an EV, be too much 🙄

A very well done video Sir Pete! It’s really cool to see you get special access to new launch cars like this. This one ain’t for me but it still seems pretty cool. I’d rather have a abarth 124 spider in a hard top personally.

    Another excellent video Ped.
Used to own a 500 twinair and it was nippy enough, never been in an Abarth though. Guess that would take it to the next level !
Love the style evolution of this latest electric version but 150 mile range might consign it to being a weekend toy.

I like it. For me city EV’s make way more sense than huge SUV’s. We had a twin air 500 for a few years and my wife still says it was one of her favourite cars.

Good quality vid Mr Ped, never been a fan of the 500, yes it looks cute, it’s very expensive for what it is (a second car for local run abouts) and has a pointless gimmick in the sound generator.
