FIRST DRIVE – Hyundai IONIQ 9 – The Perfect Big Family Car ?

I remain in South Korea for a very first drive of the all brand-new 6/7 seat electrical SUV from Hyundai, the . It has bold outside styling, luxury and comfort on the within and a big variety making it a practical proposal for those longer trips. Can it actually be a Range Rover competitor?

(Sigh…) I miss driving in South Korea… Had the privilege to live there back in 1993. I found a lot of Hyundai Grandeur saloons with those white lace “dollies” on the headrests like they use in Japan; that was a charming feature I recall from that time.
This looks like a very nice family hauler…or even a good executive airport limousine. Very nice.

Definitely room for your bike, and the pups get a chair each, no more sharing lol

Rear lights seem copied from a Mitsubishi Grandis.

Love these huge EV SUV’s – so much more energy efficient than running an ICE SUV ⚡👍

Love this vehicle. So modern and elegant. Also, it must be so cool getting to drive this car in its homeland, Korea. Outside of Koreans who gets to do that? Jealous!

We always say Wrong side of the road, when most countries driver is on the left, so is this just another unconscious bias of the British?

modern suv style cars are looking more like toasters by the day, I still think R5 is the best looking EV and Model 3 with the insanely slippery cd factor

Why don’t modern cars (mostly) mould in the screens?? Surely it’s not that difficult?

As I said before, I’m a big hyundai !! They really give you a lot for the price. I haven’t gone full ev, but I’m dipping my toe with the hyundai Santa Fe calligraphy hybrid. Mainly because of inferstructer and reliability of them. But the ionic 9 would be my choice. I’m still surprised that Tesla hasn’t made a similar sized vehicle. Looking forward to your longer range test review.

The thing is Electric Ped the price of electricity in the UK is outrageous, if we all drove things like this we’ll need another 50 nuclear power stations, these things use ridiculous amounts of electricity, fast charge one of these away from home, i.e on a trip and it will cost a fortune to charge!

‘friendlier’ looking than the EV9 and i have seen many of those on Scotlands roads, so this should do well when it gets here
