Full credit to you Pete, both for completing the Ironman but also for putting this video out showing your feelings about this. As someone who took up running in his 50s and now runs ultramarathons, (50 miler across the Lake District in July!) I complete agree with you that it’s about just getting out there and doing these things in order to keep the body and mind going…. age is just in the mind 😊👍

Congratulations on your first 70.3!!! What a beautiful achievement! One of my trainers is a triathlete who’s done over twenty 70.3 and nearly twenty 140.6 Ironman competitions. She also trains triathletes. I’ve only done three regular 42.2 running-only marathons. You have SUCH admirable mental strength, discipline and physical courage. I need to follow your lead and the lead of my trainer! Aloha!

Well done Pete. It doesn’t matter what time you finished it in, it’s always the taking part that counts. Huge love to Mrs PP as well.

words can not describe what an achievement this is, that hill for the bike course looked steep in the car so I can only imagine what that must have been like in person.

Just one word, “respect”. It wasn’t the physical side but the mental side you overcome. Many congratulations. Donated.

Proud of you Pedro! As soon as you mentioned Born Free I stopped the vid and donated a small bunch of 50 squids. It got added to and ended at 57.50, so I’m well happy. I’ve always supported animal charities so this was right up my street. Congrats on surviving!

Wow… just wow… what a whirlwind of emotions..

I felt every bit of pain whilst sat on my backside watching this… well maybe not the exhaustion of actually doing it but I’m sure you understand what I mean.😂

Amazing work Pete. I had also just turned 50 (4 years ago) when I entered my first (and only) Ironman 70.3. So I can empathise totally with your trials and tribulations you’ve shared with us, leading up to the start of your race. Unfortunately I missed the final cut off (by a couple of minutes apparently) with just 6km of the run to to go. Watching your video is inspiring me to maybe give it one more go.

Massive congratulations Peter. Could see from you body language that you were really nervous about the swim but you overcame the anxiety and absolutely nailed it!! Were you able to record your top speed on the downhill section of the cycle?

I’m sure the beer afterwards was well worth the effort and you are IRON MAN (well, not THE Iron Man but close enough 😂)
