Collecting the first brand new car I have specced !

Lots to speak about in this week's MW180 but the most important thing is that I have actually collected my brand-new Hendy Long Termer and it is the very first brand brand-new car I have actually chosen the spec of. Also the F1 from Baku was simply superb!

    Good evening everyone!
I understand that the new Renault 5 press drives aren’t too far away. I know you probably can’t say anything but I was wondering if it might be coming to the channel soon?

I think what would be better for these long termer’s would be you having to pay for the servicing, tyres and general up keep, to have an actual real world ownership experience.

I thinks what is gid is you look at all brands, not just expensive vehicles. Looking forward to seeing the next installment of the garage

Oscar is the real deal, its going to be an interesting end to the season.
I think a PHEV is a good choice, personally, I don’t really like the styling, nice colour and not too big.
Its not too top of the range so seeing an attainable car is really good for the channel

I hope you enjoy your Kia Niro. One of the advantages of being a brand Ambassador for Henry’s is that you are really spoilt for choice. Perhaps in due course when your garage is finished and you have had a fast charger installed you will swop the hybrid Niro for the full BEV Niro EV. It would be interesting to learn from your day to day experience whether running an EV is still a compromise.

Hi everyone. Agree, like the colour. Will be great to see the results on range. Looking forward to the garage update. All the best.

Great car. Before I was offered early retirement at the back end of last year, I had had two KIA Niro (level 3) Hybrids and my last car was a KIA Sportage PHEV. My wife was gutted as I gave back after a couple of months due to the retirement!

Definitely like the colour on your new KIA. Hope you, your wife, and the pups all enjoy safe and relaxing motoring in this hybrid. Aloha, all!

Hi Pete, I think you should schedule the release of the midweek 180 any time between 5:00 pm and 6:00pm 👍 as it was nice to hear new names in the Mag7 😈

Hello Peter! I’m really pleased you are taking on the Niro PHEV and it looks very good…I really thought about one when we chose the Puma but the leather seats and self parking sent us to the Ford. As for PHEV then Im a total convert because it works so well IF used Properly!! I heard an “expert” on Radio 4 today
saying that PHEV was “ the worst of all worlds”…but that tells me he does not know how they work. Charge a PHEV up and then drive it in SAVE or maybe ECO mode so that you drive a petrol car that uses regenerated electricity from slowing and braking….in my RRS PHEV that gives you 15% of truly free charge which added to the actual mpg, for me gives a real world 36-44mpg in almost all journeys. Also I can move the car around in parking without starting a cold engine and mine actually returns to EV mode in most situations under 30mph. You will work it out but beware the armchair experts!!

Which video….you decide…the Peugeot will be interesting but the garage would be the best! I could see that you have had some thoughts on the long termer reviews…and I read many of your other comments so can see it not an easy job to please too many people. Other cars?…an new EV6GT, a PHEV Defender compared to your earlier D350, the new Alpine 280, the matching Renault 5….and at a tangent, the latest Audi E-Tron GT with the trick Vorsprung suspension…is it good enough to offset the cliff face depreciation??

We were at Village Eastleigh for Goodwood so may have been just around the corner when you picked up the car…tomorrow..we are at Southampton Boat Show!

Peter…thank you for what you do…you help a lot of people through the week!😃😃😃😃Richard.

Great post Pete, got the HEV version, basically diesel milage from a petrol car. Had it for 6 months and love driving to Dad’s on a weekend, 75 miles without using the pedals. ‘Supervision’ mode!

The 2 questions I’m always interested in for a PHEV:
    (1) in pure EV mode, what is realistic range from a full battery until the battery gives up and starts the engine and
    (2) what realistic MPG do you get *after* the battery has reached that point? (Obviously it will be doing a bit of regen which will help that MPG a little.)
If you know those 2 figures then anyone can make a decent estimate of what economy you will get for any given length of journey.
Whereas the typical WLTP single figure average (“200MPG” or whatever) is pointless for PHEVs because it only applies if all your journeys look exactly like the WLTP test route.

I’ve never been a fan of blue cars but that blue looks really nice.
