Alfa Romeo Junior – Best handling Alfa in years and it’s an EV ! | FIRST DRIVE | 4K

I have actually finally driven the all brand-new Junior. Could the Junior be the best handling Alfa Romeo in year even when it is an ? I was welcomed to the Balocco Proving Grounds to put the brand-new 280hp all electrical sports crossover through its paces. The outcome were very dramatic.

Takes me back to when the Alfasud was introduced. People were anti because it wasn’t made in Milan and was front wheel drive. All they needed to do was drive it… Set the ground rules for all hot hatches that followed. I just hope that with the influence of you and others that the Junior is successful.

@@stevedymoke My thoughts too. I remember the Alfa cognoscenti poopooing the Sud because of those reasons you mentioned. Youโ€™ll still get the same types of nay-sayers today but to me this is the modern incarnation of the โ€˜Sud in EV form.

Great test drive experience video. Like many Alfisti I am torn between my first love ICEs and these new EV kids on the block. But somehow almost all of us will eventually end up in the electric age and Alfa have no choice but to go with the flow. The absolutely crucial detail will be if Alfa can make their EVs feel like something special in the hands. The power plants are going to be from the same mold as many others (it’s the only thing that makes economic sense), but the suspension setup and handling will make or break it. It is SO reassuring to see this video, to watch your face and to tell that there is real excitement going on. To me that means that Alfa must have done a great job in keeping some of the essential elements that make the brand what it is. I’ve seen the car twice in the flesh and whilst a little ‘marmitey’ it’s certainly different enough to be eye catching. What’s more the interior is really nice. I can’t wait to get my hands on it for a test drive but my local Alfa garage seem to suggest that the lower spec Junior will hit the UK ahead of the Veloce. That is a real shame.

Im much the same here. Ive began to accept the ev future that is coming. Only thing now is can the car manufacturers make sure they retqin that drive and feel were used to. Ped looked like the Junior does exactly that. Welldone Alfa

Traditional ICE Alfisti here. Great to hear the Junior drives well, and it probably helps people in forgetting the car doesn’t look as distinctive and elegant as the past Alfa greats. The wheels still look awful, though.

Good grief, what is wrong with all these people saying โ€œitโ€™s an ev, Iโ€™m not interestedโ€?
Iโ€™m no ev-angelist, and have no inclination to go that route in the foreseeable future, but itโ€™s a cracking looking car, and drives like an Alfa.

People fill their heads with conspiracy nonsense. They need to give their heads a wobble. EVs have been around for over a decade. There are a million + on UK roads. And people are very happy with them.

After owning an EV for 3 years, there’s no turning back as far as I’m concerned.
I’ve owned 3 Alfas in the 80’s and loved them! My fave car will always be the Sud ti ๐Ÿ€.
This Alfa shows that EV’s are just at the beginning of their evolution, and with all of the upcoming battery and motor technologies, the cars in a few years time will be awesome.

Excellent driving impressions Pete… i grew up loving the Alfasud and enjoyed owning a few in the 1980`s, the Sud was a revelation for front wheel drive cars, i`m no EV fan yet, BUT this could be the car that changes the game for me as the Alfasud did all those years ago..
