Why the Honda Super-N in the best value electric car you can buy

The Honda Super-N brings the clever, eccentric design of the Japanese kei car to British shores. With its dinky, town-friendly measurements, fully equipped cabin, surprisingly practical interior and temptingly low cost, it's the perfect option for city motorists who want style that will not spend a lot.

Join What Automobile? Editor, Steve Huntingford, and What Cars and truck? Deputy Editor, Darren Moss, as they describe why the Honda Super-N was named the very best electrical worth vehicle of 2026.

120 at an avg. 45mph in summer. But has a shopping trolley ranges in winter and just over 61 in sub-0°C

Not worth it, style is good but that is it, Hyundai Inster, Fiat Grande Panda much better value

The Grande Panda is a Stellantis POS. I looked at one. It’s at least £5K more and will fail much sooner

The Inster is very good, but it is much more expensive, less fun, less well equipped and has a shorter warranty.

Small cars should have small prices.
They have severe compromises that often aren’t reflected in the price. You can buy a proper car for similar money.

It would be nice to have a version that drops the boost mode, flappy paddles, piped in sound, rev limiter(?!), magic seats, keyless entry, heated seats, Bose sound system etc for a much lower price.

A high priced small car is relevant to people who can afford a bigger car but for some reason WANT a smaller car. Making a cheap version would also appeal to people who NEED a cheap car and are happy to settle for a smaller car.

There is, it’s called the N-One EV which the Super-N is based on before including the wide body kit, boost mode, Bose sound system, etc. However it’s only in Japan

You wouldn’t be standing in a bar bragging in a bar that you had just bought one . Looks ugly and dated.

I’ve yet to see a good looking EV – except for the Porsche

It handles well, is practical for the size and with a strong warranty. The Super-N isn’t showing off or over-compensating it is just its own thing.

I like to looks and the range for a small large town but only if I could home charge. Other than that, it’s a shopping trolley, kids transport or short commuter. But that’s what it’s designed for, so you can’t fault it for being good at what it’s built for.

Yep, I love small cars but to charge high prices for them is just strange …

That’s not a high price for its spec and reliability

I don’t know why Honda persists like this. First the e, then eny1 and now this, all cars the market isn’t asking for. Cancel the O series, which actually looked decent, and would give best sellers like the Model Y a run for its money. It’s like they don’t want to sell any electric cars. I’ve really lost respect for this brand.
