how much range is left if you do put a tonne in the back?

Don’t see many vans towing so that probably matters less, but I imagine it’s even more horrific than an internal load.

I see quite a lot of builder’s vans towing. I agree range when fully loaded and perhaps towing in cold weather is something which should be tested and reported. That sort of use case is taking the van somewhere then stopping to work for a good part of the day, so range less of a problem. If you are doing 12 hours of e-commerce deliveries range will be an issue, but loaded weight may well be less. I used to have a use case for vans delivering a full load of newspapers which are heavy with frequent stops at newsagents over very short periods of time – range might be an issue and no time to recharge part way round.

2.3kW from each outlet, not about 400W, according to what was written on the case… plus L stands for Low Gear, like on an old-fashioned automatic gearbox. Lads indeed 😉 That Nicola…

Great review. I think the real story is just how many vans work as EVs, and as this Transporter and the Transit show, pretty good vans. I am not sure HGVs and especially long range HGVs have quite made it to prime time yet as EVs. But a lot of every day commercial lugging can be done by EV van. For the economics to work you really want to be able to charge at base overnight rather than on motorway fast chargers, and 3 phase charging would have been useful here. You also wonder what will break with intensive use – tyres scrubbing, suspension sagging, and so on.
