On the road in the REAL Type 00: Jaguar’s crazy concept comes to life

This is Jaguar's real, production ready, camouflaged electrical GT – the follower to the Type 00 principle.
Ginny Buckley has actually seen the genuine cars and truck close up and been on the road in Jaguars brand-new EV GT.
What we now know is that it will be a 4 door GT with some extremely hot heading numbers. We're expecting a tri-motor set-up, around 1,000 bhp, plus a stack of tech aimed directly at making it feel nimble and special: torque vectoring, rear-wheel steer, and four-corner air suspension. To put it simply – huge power, but with all the tools to make it usable, sharp, and really satisfying. Plus comfy – which a Jaguar needs to be. This is a grand tourer after all. All the info we know so far remains in the video.

    I like how they have LORIPS in the front as a placeholder; a shortened “Lorem ipsum”.

    As a Jaguar I-Pace owner I can’t wait to see what the production model looks like, sadly I don’t think I’ll be able to switch up to owning one, but hopefully I’ll get a test drive when it arrives in the showroom. I think it’s sad that they have ceased production of the I-Pace as it is a fantastic drivers car.

      Yes why they did not develop the iPace. So sad.

      Another I-Pace owner here, I would have been more than happy with a MK2 I Pace…still holding out for its spiritual successor which will eventually arrive at some point i think.

    I think this looks slightly better than the concept car, might just be me but with the curve up the doors and sliding door handles, I’m getting Range Rover hints without the height

      @kadajawi2 if you plan to do your weekly shop with it, or pack it up for a two week holiday. They’ll have an iX for the that. A light bag for a weekend break etc probably fine.

    The Jaguar iPace had a cab forward design.
    The Jaguar iPace had a short bonnet because it only contained a small electric motor and a cabin further forward ie larger cabin in a shorter overall vehicle.
    This model 000 is the opposite of cab forward and, in so far as good engineering design ensures that form follows function, is somewhat pointless.

    1. @kadajawi2 Avatar
      @kadajawi2

      Cab forward was smart. This is a waste of space. It’s a toy. What are they going to put in the front?

    2. @PhilipFly11 Avatar
      @PhilipFly11

      @kadajawi2
      It is just a cartoonish recreation of a car that you and I might have sketched out when straight 8 cylinder engines and V16 engines were installed in performance cars.
      The only function of the design might be to help you survive a collision at 300 km/h into a solid object on the Autobahn or perhaps there is a huge frunk?

    3. @kadajawi2 Avatar
      @kadajawi2

      @PhilipFly11To be fair, the front of the actual car looks more like what you’d have in something like a Mustang. Still pointless for an EV, but yeah. It might have a big frunk, but access could be hard. Also they might have lots of holes to guide the air in the front, like they did with the i-Pace. Thus making the space useless but the car more aerodynamic. I guess we’ll see.

      I wonder how they will keep factories busy though, as expensive cars are sold in smaller quantities.

    4. @PhilipFly11 Avatar
      @PhilipFly11

      @kadajawi2
      Aerodynamic it is not!
      It looks like a brick.
      Xiaomi SU7 has a CD of just 0.195 which beats all Teslas and Lucia’s.
      Xiaomi also have a 1,500 HP version . . . .
      I am from the UK, I would like to see a Jaguar succeed, however, Gerry McGovern who is head of design at Jaguar, now is 69 years old and his head clearly remains rooted in an era from half a century ago.
      I am nearly the same age but long front ends and boxy designs are not the way to make an efficient EV.
      And the advertising . . . . 🙈🤮🙈🤮🙈🙈🤮🙈

    Interesting where they’re pitching it price-wise. The old MK X and 420 were also in that same ‘bank manager, can’t afford a Rolls’ bracket and similarly massive.

    Jeez suspect it will look fantastic when fully revealed. How much will the tyres be though!
    They will struggle at over £100k though for a Jag.

      Why though? – people pay that for a Range Rover as a minimum now.

      My 9 year old F-Type was over 100K when it was new. North of 100k is not new territory for Jaguar.

    I am so looking forward for this car. So many people are hating Jaguar for the commercial clip, but I am really curious how this car will perform. It looks very “tough” or monolithic, reminds me to the BMW i7. Regarding efficiency and loading speed I hope they can hold up with the specs of the new Mercedes CLA and BMW iX3 😀

  15. @johnlow4064 Avatar

    Everyone seems to be saying that over £100,000 is a completely different market for jaguar. However, you will pay over £100,000 for a BMW 7 series or Mercedes-Benz S class. These are cars which the old jaguar XJ would have competed against. You can even option a 5 series or X5 up to over a hundred thousand. I don’t see this price range for Jaguar as an especially new market for them, they’re just vacating the lower end of their old range.

    1. @Electrifyingcom Avatar
      @Electrifyingcom

      Agreed, it’s a step up but then this car is a massive step up too.

    2. @SDK2006b Avatar
      @SDK2006b

      Yes – £100k is no longer the ‘halo’ big ticket price it used to be.
      A Porsche 911 Turbo used to cost £100k about 10 years ago, now they are £200k, plus options and a lightly optioned BMW M3 is £100k
