    Why did VW assume it was ok for them to ask so much money for a raised Golf with a plastic loaded interior? There’s cost cutting and then there’s having zero respect for your cusomter. Their sister brand, Skoda didn’t go down that route at all. What were they thinking? “Audi is the luxury brand, we’ll just have a plastic dash because we’re the everyday brand but still charge eye watering money”. Anyways, it was just another SUV to clog the roads. A big, boring box on wheels.

    Preferred the design of the old one like I preferred the design of the old Tiguan. Don’t know what’s happening with the designers at VW but they appear to want to make all their cars looks like bland EVs

    There is, of course, a difference between perceived quality (i.e. soft interior plastics) and inherent mechanical quality, but it does look ok.

    Notice you didn’t compare to the Dacia Duster 155 Hybrid , probably because it would be embarrassing >£10k difference

    You didn’t mention the volvo xc40…volvo stop the sponsering?

      @alexshapley8331

      I wondered about this too – maybe it is because the XC40 is possibly still a little bit longer – maybe half a foot or so? But price wise the cars seem very comparable (as the base version of the XC40 still seems to be much nicer than the mid-spec VW).

    The R line with the 150 PS can still be bought without the crippling luxury tax…. Which is something…

    *Interior is so soulless. Everything is gray and the design has no character.*

    ‘punchy pricing’ – for ‘punchy’ read exorbitant. Call it what it is.

    1. @TeoSluga Avatar
      @TeoSluga

      Pricing is actually very good, I think it is even cheaper (or on pair) than that OLD Skoda Karoq… Which is strange, Skoda should be cheaper alternative, but somehow, it’s not. So, whoever is now buying now Karoq, I don’t understand that person at all.

    You lost me at the heater controls. VW sliding controls are mind numbingly rubbish.

    1. @alexshapley8331 Avatar
      @alexshapley8331

      Agreed – and as the VW voice commands are rubbish too, there isn’t that alternative workaround.

    VW seem to only have one size of central touch screen for all models and in the smaller cars it just doesn’t look right.

  12. @tonyod123 Avatar
    @tonyod123

    VW are not what they’re cracked up to be. I saw a u-tuber doing a 1 year test on a brand new Tiguan. It bricked within a few hundred miles, needed a new turbo, and would be off the road for a month awaiting parts.

      Yeah it’s terrible isn’t it. Why didn’t they just have the screen cover reach to the edges, even if the pixels didn’t?

    @wyelko-1

    Excellent video. But not anyone in Europe buys the R-line version which is at least 3500 euros more expensive and it has big differenses especially in the interior materials. We would prefer to test the “style” edition which is much cheaper.

    1. @stevenjones916 Avatar
      @stevenjones916

      This was the most expensive model yet it still looked boring and low quality inside.

  18. @leewilcox4044 Avatar
    @leewilcox4044

    The interior is pretty drab. There doesn’t seem to be anything to break up the acres of grey. Agreed with others: the interior of hte ageing Mazda CX30 is light years ahead in quality and operation: it still has manual gearbox options and proper physical HVAC controls.

  19. @mda50099 Avatar
    @mda50099

    You didn’t mention the the gear selector now being on the steering column and the windscreen wipers being on the same stalk as the indicators – no thanks.

  20. @davymac5366 Avatar
    @davymac5366

    The interior improvements end at the front seats. You only have to look at the rear doors, with no ambient lighting. The price of the 150bhp T-Roc Style is the same as a Match Tiguan.
