    It’s not bad. It’s sad it won’t get a diesel or manual. On the upside it’s fairly attractive

      Blame the EU emissions regulations which force at least partial electrification and poor demand

    So VW are now designing their ICE cars around their bland looking EV’s?

    1. @lapamful Avatar
      @lapamful

      Seems that way. This doesn’t look a million miles from the Toyota Corolla, which doesn’t look a million miles from the Ferrari Purosangue. It’s all getting rather silly and homogenous. At least you get a V12 in the Purosangue, even though they’ve muted the hell out of it. Maybe this is why car sales are dropping all over the place…

      The electric/hybrid car components are more expensive and there are more sensors and other electric components which make the overall manufacturing cost higher.

      @@kzagon there is not really any new sensors or components in this t-roc. The base now starts with smaller 116 PS mild hybrid instead of 150ps engine, so it cancels out the cost

      Because they have done market research and determined that’s what will sell. It does tend to increase their profits too but that’s capitalism / consumerism. No one forcing you to buy it

    Not another SUV. Can’t wait for the bubble to burst and we go back hatchbacks as the main body style.

    1. @toddheartsound5451 Avatar
      @toddheartsound5451

      that’s not a bubble. A bubble is based on a large dissonance. Since SUV’s are about the same as hatchbacks and in some ways better (and other ways worse) – it’s never going to “burst”

      They’re less efficient. I have one (chosen by my wife, as her daily), and I hate the driving position. We also feel the wind against the front of the car much strongly. That’s also why I agree that we should stop this SUV madness.

    I’m curious for the full Hybrid. We live without parking access to the street so our car can’t park close to home so electric cars don’t work for us.

    1. @bsdpowa Avatar
      @bsdpowa

      full hybrids and mild hybrids are used for acceleration and “better fuel economy”, not as range extenders so it doesn’t matter if you get one of those or pure petrol, there is no benefit to you as it’s just marketing talk, if you want a hybrid car then you need to buy a PHEV (which T-Roc won’t be, but the new Tiguan is) which you can’t charge as you say. So doesn’t matter then, just look for the best deal.

    Synthetic cloth in the dashboard is a very bad idea. Especially one with such thick patterns. Because it will quickly attract dust that will then be impossible to remove. Not to mention the discoloration that will be brought within months by the sun baking it.
