    What a great design. VW is so late

      They could bring back all the iconic shapes like the Golf MkII or the Corrado. But no. All we get from VW is soap bars on wheels for the price of a BMW.

      I think you’ll find it is Renault who is late. VW had the e-Up, SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo-e available over 5 years ago now and had the same specs as this thing has.

      @alexyoutubings6283purely specs wise I have to agree a bit.
      It might as well just be a Renault ZOE in drag.
      Probably would be virtually the same

      Not sure about that small water filler opener… otherwise… really nice!
      Maybe put that small opener to your car keys?

    In this case, the production version actually looks smarter than the concept version. My mom had a bunch of original Twingos (and crashed all of them) and they were very good, reliable, surprisingly practical cars. Renault is on a *spectacular* streak of doing retro design right. You see immediately what it references – without looking outdated.

      The presenter is absolutely tiny, though, wow…and there’s little headroom in the rear already. In our family, the adults and teenage kids are all at least 30% taller than her. And that was a big thing, pun intended, with the OG Twingo: Spacious on a small footprint. The Chinese can do it – Nammi Box is perfect. So, please, fingers crossed, hoping Renault has managed to pull this off, too.

      @Sjalabais The average height of a woman in the UK is five feet 4 inches or 163cm so this lady is absolutely average height for a female adult. And it looks like somebody up to about five foot 8 inches or a slightly small UK man would be ok.
      It might not be suitable for your family or for me at six feet 4 inches but we’re not typical.
      And, given the matching accessories, modest power output and cute looks this is clearly going to be marketed at young females as a city car for shorter journeys. A rival for the Fiat 500.
      And yes these are stereotypes…

    Not my style – I am too much in love with the R5 – but you have to admire Renault for producing such a clever and thought out design. This is more of a youngster’s car with a cool personality whereas I think the maturity of the R5 design will appeal to a surprising number of older drivers. Renault are on an incredible roll and wisely differentiating themselves from the plethora of Chinese import. I was amazed to read that in October nearly 40% of their sales were BEVs which must make Ed Miliband a very happy man.
    PS forgot to add that a rear sliding seat should be a feature in all small cars as either rear leg room and boot space always has to be compromised. Ironically the R5 is probably the car most in need of being able to reduce its generous boot space to offset the cramped leg room in the rear.

    At last a car that doesn’t make Ginny look like a little person. I’m 6’2″ but have always liked smaller cars for driving enjoyment and easy parking. Looks great.

      I rent cars frequently, usually taking cars at the VW Golf category but often they upgrade me or sometimes I will take a VW Polo category. I have to agree that smaller, lighter cars are more enjoyable to drive which reminds me why people were so fond of the original Mini Cooper, indeed a super-mini car, literally a cart car, albeit one I have never driven.

      I like and use the 200 mile plus range of my 52kWhr Zoe, so I think for my purposes I would need at least 40kWhr for this car.

    5. @harry4319 Avatar
      @harry4319

      @xWood4000 it really does matter though. I had a Dacia spring as a loan car with the similar battery size and it was horrendous on efficiency

    What a great looking city car, well done Renault! Once again nailing design and the retro looks, hope the smaller range doesn’t put people off looking at, considering and buying this wee mean machine. Love seeing the paddles and one pedal driving, it’s the one thing I miss on my R5 coming from other EVs I have driven with one pedal driving for years and didn’t think I would miss it as much as I do. I know the next R5 is coming with it, shame they can’t retro fit to the first cars sold.

    I wish this ripples on to bigger cars. Finally an acual CAR, not a spaceship or living room on wheels. Also one that people can afford. This is what we have to start making again in Europe.
    Love my facelift Kona EV, but could use more trunk space (and perhaps less tech).

    We never seem to end up with a Renault. We looked at a Scenic then a Kangoo, but ended up with a Citroën Berlingo in 2002. More recently, we looked at a Megane e-tech but ended up with a VW Buzz. I am too old to buy any more cars, but admire the R4 and the Twingo. In Norway, I always look at ground clearance.

    They really need a 2nd, 10-15 kWh larger battery option for people willing to pay. P.S. about the french driving, romanian here, visited Nice in 2006, well not as much about driving as about the parking, I was horrified to notice on steep streets people parking on the side were literally letting their cars slide gently until touching the car in the front, then pulling the handbrake. Twingo was a huge favourite over there at that time and they were all super banged up on their front and rear bumpers. It’s like a thing the locals were doing, I’ve never seen anything like that really, super regarded but hilarious as well tbh XD

    1. @drfisheye Avatar
      @drfisheye

      The price of a bigger battery version would probably get very close to the entry-level Renault 5, which has 13 kwh more battery, faster charging, and more comfortable.

    2. @Groaznic Avatar
      @Groaznic

      @drfisheye That’s just corporate executive artificial way of thinking that leads to enshittification, these cars are super evocative passionate and emotional, I can totally see someone irrationally choosing to spend a bit more on the Twingo without double checking an Excel sheet of where it intersects the specs or whatever of another car model, just because someone might just love Twingo. P.S. this uses LFP so it should be cheap.
