One would argue that there are “better” choices in class but if you’re after bulletproof reliability as number one factor, you will never go wrong with a Toyota then.

I had one of these for 12 months. It was really good on fuel. I got over 60mpg as my long term average. Mostly motorway miles.

    I have a 2025, 75 plate Yaris Cross. I don’t care about sportiness or 0 to 60.
It’s a very good all rounder with reqular 70 to 80mpg fuel consumption. Best car I’ve ever had.
Superb reliability and perfectly happy with performance.

I have a 26 130ch design model. The car ticks all the boxes for me and provides excellent fuel economy. Long term average is 69mpg. The noise levels are a bit dissapointing and they really should make more of an effort on that.

It’s an ecvt gearbox, I have a 23 year cross, it’s absolutely fine on motorways, he didn’t mention the sound insulating glass fitted to the front glass,to the new ones all motoring journalists mention about sportiness, if I want something sporty, I’ll get something sporty, and, on today’s uk roads, with speed cameras and potholes plus congestion, you can rarely go fast, I’d love a full ev, but would solely rely on expensive public charging, this is the best compromise, I’m regularly seeing high 60s mpg in summer, even high 50s in winter, so I’ll probably be ordering a New Cross next year…

No discussion of the engineering masterclass that’s the e-cvt. all planetary gears no belts or pulleys it is genius design. And the reason for the incredible economy

This is a good example of how bad car sizes have gotten, looking at them together this is the same size as a a 2010 Rav4 but it’s considered now a “small” car.

For about the same price, between Duster and Yaris Cross, for me it was a no brainer to get the Yaris Cross.

We have a 2023 Yaris Cross, in Design spec and have just done 35000 miles since new, with an average of 62-63mpg out of 2WD, 115bhp version. Its been really good! Excellent as a second car, not big in the back for Lanky teenagers but decent boot and good running costs. Issues have been (1) No rear interior light on this 23 older model of design spec. (2) Bonnet catch has been sticky. NB Our RAV4s feel much better built but 500kg heavier, so no surprise.
