We in the US miss out on all the great small cars and wagons.

I have a 2.0 engine. Average fuel consumption after 8k miles is 61.1 mpg. Has a better sound insulation and does not rev that much because it is powerful.

The 2.0 has the engine cover as well fitted in the bonnet so that’s why you hear less noise from engine

Quick correction on the boot capacity. The 2.0 litre variant has a smaller boot because of the 12v battery placement from the bonnet to the boot,NOT the hybrid battery which is always placed under the rear seats

100%. Hybrid batteries for the new Corolla TNGA platform are always under the rear seats

& in the TS 2.0 the 12V goes where the rh cut out is behind the rear arch & is hidden by a panel. It is not under the floor.

“N3VER heard of a Corolla”??? One of the biggest selling nameplates in the world. Loads of Corolla Estates around.

Why do I always expect these videos to start with this fella singing “look at the stars, look how they shine for you”.

I just got one of these a few Months back. Astonishingly good fuel economy from the 1.8 engine and hybrid system, and no timing belt to change. Not overly powerful, but perfectly fine for most motoring. Surprisingly pleasant to drive, and a very comfortable ride, with good comfortable (heated) seats and steering wheel. The boot is huge, given the overall size of the car, and the reversing camera is clear. Some people don’t care for the CVT auto, but I’ve not found it to be an issue personally…Overall build quality is top notch.

One of things people dislike about CVT’s is mooing effect when the engine holds its revs high during acceleration. On older Toyota hybrids this was very noticeable, but it is a lot better in Corrolla and more calmer than some of the older CVT engines.

Heated steering wheel? My one 2024 doesn’t have it. How you got it? ( UK right?)

The current model Corolla is one of the best looking cars on the road. I personally would have one over any Pointless SUV.

SUVs often suit older drivers who want easier access and egress.

Had a 2.0 litre one for 4 years and 50,000 miles. The only fault was the small auxiliary 12v battery losing a bit of it’s charge after 48k miles. Put it on a battery charger for half an hour, no problems since. I’d agree about the road noise- but putting a set of Michelin Crossclimate tyres on it definitely improved things. The most economical car I have owned in over 40 years. I’d happily buy another. (Currently driving a Rav4..another fabulous machine).

Absolutely love the lighting strips in the boot, as they span a good deal its depth and they’re also present on both sides! I’m really surprised Toyota of all makes is the one to show everyone how it’s done in the reasonably priced estate market, and even some in the premium. IF they actually work, that is, shine properly to light the boot at night

I have 23 reg chr. Love it. Great drive, great fuel economy between 4.3 and 4.7ltr p/100km. My only complaint is sounds insulation above 80km speed. Wife has higher spec rav4 and it has much better sound insulation . These are great hybrid cars. Toyota hybrids can drain the 12v battery so you must ensure everything is off inside car before powering downsuch as heated seats, fans, radio etc.

Built (assembled) in the UK . Along with the engine, and is exported in reasonably high numbers. I have a 2020 TS and it’s the best car I’ve owned. Mid 60s mpg, and not one problem with it from day one..

Been in Corolla Estate taxis and they are very solid cars. Might not be the sportiest handling car but the likelyhood is most people who consider this car are more interested in the practicality and fuel economy.

While not the sportiest car, it is still nippy and accelerates pretty good and seems to have all the power you need for daily driving.

Compared to previous Toyota CVT hybrids (2015 generation Prius) it also didn’t suffer from the mooing effect as badly when accerating.

I have a 1.8 TS 2024 company car. With 50k on it, it hasn’t missed a beat and in black with all the bells and whistles it’s well speced up and extremely reliable

Toyota have produced a gem here, I’ve had two of these and they are brilliant, I’m getting close to 70 mpg for a good mix of driving, the build quality is excellent everything is solid and nothing rattle’s unlike my previous ford and vauxhall which did, the boot space is great and when you drop the back seat it is like the TARDIS it’s incredible what fits in, my only issue and it was raised here is the seat back adjustment it is very difficult to get the exact position, but the seats are still very comfortable and hold you well and the ride is excellent

Both 1.8 and 2.0 versions are excellent cars. The 2.0 offers more performance for not a lot of tradeoffs.

Honestly everthing the average driver would need and more if not going EV.

1:49 – You sure about the smaller boot capacity due to “hybrid battery” in 2 liter version? AFAIK it is (still) because of the battery, _BUT_ the normal 12V battery, which is in 2 liter version installed in the right pocket (you mentioned it as “two massive compartments” in 2:46 – which 2 liter version has only left one) of the boot space (whereas in 1.8 is next to the ICE engine). Hybrid/EV battery is under the rear seat in both versions.
