    Tesla Model 3 is in a value segment of its own. No wonder it has shaken up the industry so much. Maybe the Ioniq 6 would have put up a better fight against TM3?

    1. @ciybersal9833 Avatar
      @ciybersal9833

      IM5 is closer in size to Model S than Model 3. It’s substantially wider too, in fact nearly same as Model S, check dimensions. It’s wheelbase is almost same as Model S. This channel needs to point this, it’s seems to favour Tesla

      @GDM22

      @ciybersal9833 But boot was worse and back seat worse, so bigger on the road and to park and worse to sit in; what is your point.

    3. @Astke Avatar
      @Astke

      Ioniq 6 feels incredibly cheap inside and the infotainment is a joke. Additionally it costs a lot of money for a good spec.

      Tesla did great to bring electric cars into the mainstream but it’s an old car that has never been a looker and other cars are so much more desirable.

      Maybe the new Ioniq6 when it’s available! The only issue is that the LR RWD is still underpowered.

    The MG is performance version hence the lower range. Should test the Tesla performance too

      Its MGs mistake they have provided the wrong car tho

    2. @michaeldendulk2230 Avatar
      @michaeldendulk2230

      @andriusbaziuk4331 Still doesn’t make it a fair comparison… Not to mention you never pay list price for an MG, you’ll easily get at least 7k off list price for the IM5 by just saying ‘please’. I got my 34k list price MG5 for 23k new from a main dealer… Even MG’s own PCP on the long range IM5 only comes to GBP 529 a month over 4 years and that’s with a lower GBP 1.5k deposit. Increase the deposit to 7k and they will give you a 0% APR deal, bringing it down to GBP 419 a month for 3 years, so I have no idea where these guys are getting their figures, but it comes over as rather biased towards the Tesla.

    3. @presterjohn71 Avatar
      @presterjohn71

      @michaeldendulk2230MG screwed up. That’s not What Cars? Fault. Additionally MGs biggest problem is who sells them. Dealers are not well thought of in general and screwing up like this indicates that bad reputation is deserved. It’s a shame because I quite like the cars but wouldn’t go near the dealer network.

    4. @GDM22 Avatar
      @GDM22

      @michaeldendulk2230 They discussed it at the end as they drove the non performance, still said it would come third, regardless of you cost breakdown.

    5. @michaeldendulk2230 Avatar
      @michaeldendulk2230

      @presterjohn71 So? Still doesn’t change the fact they are comparing apples to oranges… You’re basically saying it’s fine, because they’re both fruit.

    The state of the charging network in the UK is no longer hobbled by the amount of chargers. It’s the speed that is way behind other countries.

      Just imagine 2026 or 2027 updated tesla model 3 LR RWD with 800 volt architecture and impressive 2026 LG energy solution’ all new ultra advanced 90% nickel content tab-less NCMA 21700 cells with industry leading 6200 mAh capacity and 700amps(560kw)charging power in an 800 volt architecture with amazing 5c charging rate(10-80% in 12min) and unseen in 21700 platform of 4000 cycle life .it will have 96 kwh(545 miles WLTP)useable capacity with these new cells and because of tabless tech which has 7% better efficiency , their amazing 2027 model 3 LR RWD will have industry beating and desirable 583 miles of WLTP range . I can garantee it would be the best selling automobile of any kind in the world.(tesla can achieve 641 miles WLTP with similar 96 kwh capacity with designing and using ultra advanced 2-stage 12-switch silicon-carbide inverter for another 10% better efficiency)

      I think the type of buyer for the Merc, will have adult children and so will rarely have rear passengers. The 800v charging won’t be an issue, as they’ll either use it for euro touring, where 800v chargers aren’t rarer than hens’ teeth. Or they’ll just be visiting their own company managers one a week and so mostly home charging. And they’ll already have a diesel Merc as a daily driver.

    800 Volt Charging Stations are super common here in germany, so not really a downside for the mercedes. Still really stuрid on them on cheaping out on a converter on a premium car. And it doesn’t even has an electric tailgate. Whose decision was that?

    Nice review! Small correction, you don’t have to go to the screen to change temperature on the Tesla. You have access from the physical scroll buttons on the steering wheel, or use voice control.

    The Mercedes is impossible to recommend until it can be charged at all chargers. EV charging is complicated enough without adding another complexity of having to know the voltage of the charger you are going to. Awful for Mercedes to cheap out and not offer this as standard.

    1. @avus303 Avatar
      @avus303

      You don’t need to know the voltage, it will only navigate you to 800v chargers which are the chargers you would want to use anyway.

    Tesla owner here, have a Y and 3, great cars but this review seems very Tesla biased. I don’t know much about the CLA, but it seems somewhat unfair on the IM5. It was the wrong model to compare (yes MG fault I know) but then why do the test. The LR has more range, likely more efficient and dynamics. Also no mention of the rear wheel steering, or the auto park features as standard that Tesla charge you extra for, plus it has V2L which Tesla still don’t offer. Also why do these reviews never mention the sound systems on the cars, something that is important to me?
