    Hate the “ribbed” design on the dashboard.

    Thanks for doing a Superb review! (No pun intended). Just one comment, as an Automotive Quality engineer I think we need to separate quality of materials from reliability! You indicate that the interior is lower quality due to plastics used. But if they last well and perform as designed I’d say they are higher quality than a leather and titanium interior that falls apart after 2 weeks. Maybe luxury not quality is the meaning here.

      An excellent comment! Could you elaborate on quality protocols between premium and “normal” brand cars? E.g. Audi wire connections soldered, but VW connections clamped.

      I have a 23 plate hybrid iv, like it got 220 hp top speed 140mph, so why is the stats for the new one alot lower? in fact to low wouldn’t want one!

    Skoda every single time…. Just because it has proper heating controls. Interior is way beyond the nasty plastic everywhere offered in the Ford Explorer

    In Croatia you got 6 years warranty or 150.000km. Always wonder why such a difference between countries.

      I wonder whether it’s to do with a difference in labour costs, or the cost/difficulty of getting parts in the UK Vs Croatia. Or the costs of a courtesy car whilst it might be in for repair.

      @fiumeebasta3612

      @BritishTeaLover  Could be. Also skodas are very very popular in Croatia, don’t know for UK. In Croatia they are a very good value for money (Kodiaq and Superb starts somewhere around 37.000e + 6years warranty with good equipment, matrix led etc as standard)

      It’s marketing. Most vehicle companies offer 1 year factory warranty. Anything beyond that is funded by the Country arm of the company. Remember, they are all different companies under 1 umbrella brand. Eg VW UK offer 3 year warranty but VW USA is 7 years. VW Manufacturing provide a 1 Year then VW USA or VW UK choose what extra to add and factor in the cost.

    I am guessing that the basic estate, with only those engine and other options that keep it below the £40K threshold, makes most sense. The estate version has always been elegant.

    The biggest issue, is the one with good suspension crosses over the £40,000 luxury car tax bracket.

    1. @Liverpool1ne Avatar
      @Liverpool1ne

      That additional tax really needs revising. £40k is no longer a ‘luxury’ car.

    Currently running a 2021 sportline estate. Best car I’ve ever owned. Powerful, looks good, reliable, comfy, insanely practical too. Never been short of space, had it fully loaded across countries. If this new one is the same or better I’ll seriously consider it.

    Simple, functional and brilliantly designed climate controls – why can’t other manufacturers do this, instead of lumping absolutely everything inside a stupid touch screen? Diesel Superb Estate is pretty much all the car you could ever need!

    7:36 – Why isn’t the PHEV version of the Superb offered in the hatchback body style like the previous generation was?

    1. @BritishTeaLover Avatar
      @BritishTeaLover

      Probably because they want to reduce the number of SKUs they have to manufacture. This way they only need to design 1 rear end with the PHEV system and battery, rather than have to design it into both.

      Also means fewer models, which makes manufacturing easier, fewer variants to keep in stock at dealers etc.

    I would still pick the Superb over the Passat without thinking twice about it. No one is going to purposefully try and shake the dashboard trim or knock on the bottommost part of the door panels in day to day life. The slightly smaller screen in the Superb combined with the Smart Dials makes for a more traditional interior than the Passat and the interior colours that Skoda offers are just warmer and more inviting than those of the Passat. The Superb also looks better in my opinion. No connected light bars and light up grills. Just a normal car. The cherry on top of is that here in Germany the Superb, even in a like for like configuration, is 4 to 5 grand cheaper than the Passat.

    Here is just classic, people love it as practical family car. Škoda is still simply clever 😅😂

    a shame theres no full BEV option, but at least its a PHEV with a range long enough that you’d rarely be buying petrol

    Biggest downgrade for me is the arm rest, as an owner of a mk3 superb for the last 5 years I always have my armrest notched up to the highest setting
