    The only negative here…. Is that we still have to wait for another 6 months to get it in the UK….!!

      That six-month delay is a positive, because we’ll get the European-sourced batteries, and hence a bigger EV grant.

      Given the price I should hope it does. Shop around and you can find Springs with less than 500 miles on the clock for £11,000 or less.

      I think the updated Spring is a holding exercise pending Dacias new city car based on the Twingo which we may see naxt year.

      Looks great very stylish will sell very well. But the facelifted Spring now has 100bhp in top trim and available for just over £10000 on autotrader so really different price points for the 2 city cars

    The Twingo, like the VW Up and Hyundai Inster… It’s a small city car. It is not meant to be a large family SUV. So any rear seating is acceptable.

      Spot on, it’s made for short journeys to the shops in cities and towns. Rear space is almost irrelevant.

      I disagree completely. It’s a must that I’m able to fit my long legged offspring in the back when I need to even though it would be our second car.

      Still worth pointing out. If you regularly carry rear passengers you’ll be better off with an eC3, Panda or Inster. And none of those are massive cars.

    With a Government grant factored in, the new Twingo could start at less than £17,000! 🤯⚡

    If you were looking for an affordable small EV, which would you pick?
    A) Renault Twingo (For the retro 90s styling and the bargain price tag!) 🟡
    B) Renault 5 (I’d pay a bit more for the extra range and more premium feel) 🇫🇷
    C) Dacia Spring (I’d go for the absolute cheapest EV on the market) 🔌

      There will likely be an all new Dacia Spring 2.0 of sorts based on the Twingo E Tech, so I’d probably say that, but you’d have to wait another 1-2 years.

      I want the Twingo but I’ll wait and see if they offer a slightly longer range version with a little more power. The 81 MPH top speed feels a bit limited for UK motorway use. It’s always handy to have ‘a bit in reserve’ to get you out of a potential trouble situation. These used at £10K and under in a few years are probably where it’s really at…

      Considering the Spring just got an upgrade to the Dacia Spring 100 in 2026, I would go for that. The better option might be the Smart #2 which will replace the ForTwo, however Smart are dragging their heels and hinting at a 2027 release for that, because they’re grossly incompetent (like all the legacy ICE companies).

      But this is nice. As a second hand car? I’d probably find it better than the Spring if it’s the same price. Although there is a Spring Cargo which means you dont’ have to carry around the useless small car back seats no-one should be forced to waste money and mass on.

So umm…. yeah… But yes, obviously, only the fools we are all thankful for buy cars new. Sensible people buy from them second hand.

      No joke, I’m not even looking to buy a car, much less an EV, but having seen this cool little orange car I sort of want it, I just love how cool it looks
      They will sell millions of them if nothing is wrong with them technically and if the pricing holds.

    It’s so cute! I think it looks great in the bright colours. It seems closer to the original Twingo than the R5 is to the original.

    This is just what my doctor has prescribed. All I need is a car to take my wife and me around town, for shopping, doctor´s appointments and the occasional road trip into the nearby countryside. The range is perfectly fine and the cost not much more than other small cars.

      a 2 grand car would do all that for you and not cost 17k even if you finance it its a lot of cash.

      @JohnnyMQB that 2 grand car will likely also come with 2-3 grand worth of repairs/maintenance every year if you’re not able to do repairs yourself. And I reckon you can get this Twingo in a year or two for 10-12k which is a pretty good deal. It will be way more reliable than any ICE car for the same money.

      @patrickf2386 im sorry but i just cant see a car costing you 2k in a year in repairs stuff like suzuki alto,nissan micra,skoda fabia even if u only got a few years out of it its still a lot cheaper than leasing or financing a twingo its purely economics now you have to pay tax on electric aswell its made it even less attractive.

    They got the styling completely right. It looks like someone took the Original Twingo and made a concept car intended to look like it from the year 2077.

    The Range is a bit short by general standards, but absolutely fine for a lot of people who don’t do longer journeys. Most people – if they’re being realistic – would be fine with it.

    What I love about small, inexpensive cars like this is that the designers give them some character that larger models typically lack. It only seems to be these city cars where they get the freedom to put in the splashes of colourful plastic and interesting styling quirks. Larger vehicles usually are designed by a committee to avoid anything that anyone might potentially object to. So you get a sea of glum, unimaginative, grey plastic.

      Cost cutting and wanting to look “modern”. To the bean counters knobs and buttons are an extra cost when you have a touch screen there anyway.

      @tarbyonlinefulBut the point being made is that this is a cheap car, where cost cutting is very important, more so than for more expensive cars. So if this car can have proper physical controls and keep costs down, then so can others.

      @TheRealLondonBoy I would argue software-programmable physical controls should be the future, whereas touch screen controls on a moving vehicle where you have to keep your eyes on the road is lazy design at best and bad design at worst. It does seems to be the way cars are going, which is a shame.

      Still, if even a relatively cheap car like this can have physical dials then the lack of physical controls on other cars clearly isn’t down to cost.

    I would never understand why manufacturers put bigger wheels that ruin the rage and probably the ride too on small cars. It doesn’t even make the cars look better it just makes them look weird, especially on the Twingo the smaller wheels look much better on it.
