    If you were buying a new electric family hatch today, which would you choose?

    A) Renault Megane (I love the new styling!) 🇫🇷
    B) Cupra Born (I want something fun to drive) 🇪🇸
    C) MG4 (I want the best value for money) ⚡
    B) VW ID.3 (It’s a good all-rounder these days) 🇩🇪

    Let us know your pick below! 👇

      None of the above. My radar is locked on the Leapmotor B05. Have, for obvious reasons, not tried it yet but honestly, on paper is seems like a combo of the four You list 😊. Not perfect, but…

      The Mégane is a better car and a better equipped car than any of those listed so it’s bizarre that it doesn’t sell as well.

      Megane.
      The MG is actually pretty bad value for the money.
      Materials are bad.
      Construction isn’t great.
      Charging speed seems good, if you only look at peak charging speed.

      The VW group cars lack physical controls..
      I would go for the Megane

      @lars_jutjupeon paper.
      Word of advice, try it in person and ask real owners in person, not online.

      I have started to notice that Chinese made cars always have amazing reviews online and when I actually talk to the guy that owns one they complain a lot.

      No, we don’t.
      If you want a gasoline powered car, Renault already offers you a lot to choose from…
      EV sales are going up, gasoline sales are going down.
      No one needs this as an ICE car.

      I have a few vehicles of both Petrol and EV’s. When I have an option, I always choose my current Megane EV, and will get the new one. The megane, even as it is, has blistering speed and charges in less than 30 minutes. More folks should test drive them, you will be impressed.

    Great first review.
    In its class the Mégane is still no1 in beauty ❤️. It is indeed compact and that gives it some challenges and if You can’t live with those there are plenty alternatives out there. That’s not an error by Renault…that’s a choice.
    Have had two Mégane E-Techs and for me to choose one a third time, they should have made it RWD and moved some of the cargo space to a frunk, so for that reason (only)…I’m out.

    1. @vulcangoliath Avatar
      @vulcangoliath

      Funny how we all like different things. I have a current Megane and its a beauty, I always prefer FWD on my cars and am glad there is no frunk. Its ahead of its competitors for actual driving (yes i have tried and test them all) and I will definately hand this current one over to my son when I buy the new one.

    Being tall I found I clipped my head on the roofline when getting in and out. So the Scenic was a more obvious choice.

    Never mind the car, you may benefit from a new set of clothes.

    All these SUVs pretty much look the same……boring. The WLPT range is meaning less and needs scraping. You can remove about 20% of that figure to get the real range.

    1. @TheAllMightyGodofCod Avatar
      @TheAllMightyGodofCod

      1- this is not a SUV.
      2- No matter what the method is, you will always get higher range numbers on the specs sheet than in reality.
      3- if we get rid of WLTP what should we get instead? (Please be specific, and not a generic “oh something more realistic”).

    Where the RS version/Alpine version 😉😁
    But still looks quite smart, with design updates, and great to see improvement in charging and range, let’s see how it compares to the new iD3 NEO and Cupra Born

    Oh! So that was why they were discounting it during spring!
    This was already a really nice car, the things I didn’t like about it were things common to all new cars so, this is in my top picks.
    Let’s see this new version

    They haven’t changed the regenerative braking system because there’s nothing whatsoever wrong with it, in fact I’d say it’s very good indeed. If the folk at What Car can’t drive it smoothly they must be wearing hobnail boots, it’s a doddle. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s cars that are not user friendly or easy to drive smoothly, believe me, this achieves both, it’s hard to fault. It’s true that rear room is a little tight, the boot access isn’t the best and the steering is too light, but you soon get used to it. The worst things about the current car are:
    Doors can rattle and interior creaks
    Silly, albeit attractive 20″ wheels on my version
    Naff, just about OK Harmon Kardon sound system on my model
    Too many column stalks on the right, although you do mainly get used to it.
    Poor visibility although the cameras help.
    Apart from that it’s easily the most user friendly, least flawed car I’ve ever owned, great to drive with no annoying bongs and driver intervention, fast, staggeringly cheap to run, handles quite well, quite good fun, comfortable, very reliable so far and really good looking. Renault seem to be smashing it at the moment. If you want annoying touchscreens for everything you need, bland styling, SUV handling and proportions, look elsewhere or go Chinese.

    Great review. I like the Megane a lot and the range is probably just enough to handle my long commute. It’s going to go on my shortlist when I change my Polestar.

    A decent car and a welcome facelift. No idea why you’re comparing it to the previous generation of competitors though. When it’s out, it’ll be competing with the VW ID Polo/Cupra Raval and the Kia EV3/Hyundai Ioniq 3 etc.

    While killing it with 5, 4 and Twingo the Megane and Clio new gens are dissapointing, they turned good looking smart hatches into over grown fat wannabe suvs. And Renault already has enough SUVs in their lineup
