I like the design and the colour…. However, the biggest issue with buying a new Nissan, is that I am not convinced that Nissan will exist as a brand within a few years… Therefore, my money is on a Kia EV3 or PV5

Nissan is 114yrs old this year, outlived my nan they did, so maybe it’s fine for it to die…but I reckon it’ll still outlive a couple more generation for you to worry about it. But KIA is a solid choice at the moment. 81yrs old this year i believe, hitting adulthood. Lol

They won’t go bankrupt. It’s most likely the Japanese government will buy them out. Or Renault will.

With a few exceptions the coupe styling on these smaller SUV’s is very much a case of style over substance. This new Leaf looks good but as you pointed out, it restricts headroom, boot space / practicality & normally means no rear wiper as well, as is the case here.
I much prefer a boxy / estate styled SUV with a rear wiper for max practicality & rearward vision. Not really worried about the impact on the maximum range because no EV can actually achieve those published figures anyway.
Think I’d take an Elroq over the Leaf.

I’m just happy to see more affordable EVs getting better, this and the the new Bolt are great. Still hoping to see something great for $25k or less one day.

It’s a squared product. If the pricing is right, it could be a sales hit and save Nissan for a generation.
I got an EV already, but this one would be on my top options to buy right now.

I really like the new Leaf, and love the Ayria (would have had one, just didn’t need anything that big) I really hope it does well and Nissan start to turn a corner and do well, be really sad to see them disappear after being a corner stone of the car industry for so long..

It is NOT an SUV, but a crossover! Why you Guys call nearly all new cars an SUV?? 😂

Its hard to tell these days because EV batteries mean the car has to sit higher.

The SUV madness started with the Nissan Murano and Infinity FX
I don’t think this car would be similar to them

Seems to be mixed messages over various reviews regarding e-pedal, some are saying it will bring to full halt, others that the footbrake is required for a complete stop as e-pedal only slows to low speeds. Either Nissan’s tech presentations have been unclear or the journo’s haven’t been paying full attention…

What are you talking? Leafs one pedal mode does not bring it to a complete halt. What makes you claim that? It only stops in adaptive cruise mode.

I love how we’re calling everything an SUV now. This still very much looks like a hatchback or maybe even more like a fastback to me. I think the definition of an SUV probably needs to be refined now that ride height has effectively been changed across all model types in the electric world to accommodate batteries in the floor.

Nearly everything that most call an SUV these days is really a crossover. No idea why the term hasn’t become standard in the 25+ years they’ve been around.

Interesting car (though in a different color than…) with a beautiful Japanese design and built for Europe in the UK. Other reviews were more positive about the handling (suspension, quietness, dynamics) than the negative comments made here. Of course, experiencing it yourself is always the best.

This is finally Nissan giving the pioneering LEAF the proper update it deserves. It’s a little sad that it’s lost its hatchback proportions, but still, for a coupe SUV, it looks quite good and quite sporty. Would actually love to see the NISMO version. The platform it’s getting from Renault is good and proven, also the fact that it uses Google Automotive inside.
I think that Nissan has a big seller on their hands with this Leaf, the great, affordable daily car.

I like this a lot – although you describe it as an SUV, I could be convinced it’s a saloon. It’s good looking and the interior is nice. It’s also built in Britain so it’s nice to have a decent car that isn’t built around the other side of planet and that supports our economy.

Read somewhere Nissan was merging with Mitsubishi to survive. Considering the bad track record they have the last few years, somehow I think it’s a good idea. I find it hard to believe that Nissan will survive with this model alone. My bet is Nissan will be remembered as the Nokia of cars, first out with something that could have dominated the market, but dropped the ball never really caught up.

Nissan partially owns Mitsubishi. And BEVs aren’t the main business of Nissan. BEVs aren’t even majority of sales of European market either.
