The new electric GLC has an official range of up to 405 miles, but rivals like the BMW iX3 and Volvo EX60 are claiming 500+ miles! 🔋🚙

How much official range do you actually need to feel comfortable buying an EV?

    A) 300 miles is plenty – I mostly drive around town! 🏙
    B) 400 miles is the sweet spot for a family SUV ⚖
    C) 500+ miles or I’m sticking to petrol/diesel! ⛽

As a ev driver for 1 years the answer is always, more than you have.
Our 2024 kona will do 300 miles but I wish it could push 500.

Range is a complete misnomer. Journos are obsessed by it. It’s the efficiency that matters. That’s what informs your range.

Definitely 400 miles as when you have cold weather that reduces significantly.

I’m not usually a fan of the giant screens in modern cars but I have to admit that this one is integrated really well across the dashboard.

8:13 Almost all cars now have that giant panoramic glass on the roof. I wonder if it’s coated from factory with anti UV anti IR to prevent heat build up from sun radiation ?

It’s a trick to allow more headroom when needing to have a battery pack mounted under the floor. Usually why they’re fixed and don’t open (opening mechanisms rob headroom). They are usually coated with reflective properties, but don’t match conventional closed roof (just ask any Tesla driver in the middle east…)

More than one car charging at a charge station at the same time is not ‘unforseen circumstances’ it is to be expected. I was getting quite revved up about EVs but now it’s time to think again.

Screen is far too big and distracting.
Perhaps manufacturers should forget all of these ridiculous screens and they might get an extra 100 miles of range 😂

No physical buttons for climate either! Don’t get me started on issues charging. Sorry but absolutely no way 🤦‍♂️

Thank goodness the GLC plummets in value from new…. In 3 years time, it’s price will be realistic!

Well nothing that new on the BMW or the Merc my Q6 average 3.4 to 3.5 and charging is about the same.

Better option for the passenger screen distracting the driver is to just not have it in the first place. It’s actually another way to make the car cheaper to manufacture. Slap another relatively cheap screen there instead of designing an actual dash.

Run the configurator. Fully spect Volvo 80k, BMW 84k and Mercedes 94k Euro in The Netherlands!!! No way Mercedes with the shortest range will sell well.
