    I loved what kia did with their electric designs so far but this is hard to look at.

    Sound is out of time. Probably not going to be a big seller in the UK but may be in other markets. Love the alloys though!

    On long trips, I used to stop for around 30 minutes every four hours when driving my old diesel. That’s why I don’t get it when journalists insist that faster charging is essential for long journeys, my experience doesn’t match that at all.

      Because most Norml people don’t stop every 30 mins we wanna get somewhere

      its clickbait. And pointless long trip range tests, unless they do a range test for the 95% of journeys people do, its worthless

      stopping/changing driver after few hours of driving is required for safety and health reasons, but if you plan just 30 minutes for a stop you are very well interested in NO additional delays for charging or even waiting or seeking unoccupied spot.

      a road trip relaxed journey style is fine, but going for business or long distance commute experience is dramatically affected by charging delays or inconveniences.

    Why Kia don’t fit a heat pump as standard is very frustrating and must affect the range available especially in extreme weather conditions, it also somewhat undermines purchasers by not making it obvious its only standard on the top of the range models.

    1. @GruffSillyGoat Avatar
      @GruffSillyGoat

      Kia does make the heat pump standard in colder countries. Though why add cost to the vehicle when not needed in some target markets with milder climates. In South-West UK where I’m located the additional cost of the heat-pump will never pay for itself.

    A smaller boot than EV3 does not sell it to me as a do-it-all family car. A bigger car should have a bigger boot. I think Kia have slipped up on this one & the fastback model looks very odd at the rear.

      i could live with slight less boot space but if the suspension setup is firmer than EV3 then iam getting EV3. Just going to wait for AIr LR efficiency my final decision

    Would really appreciate conversions flashing up on the screen. Most of the world are using metric, ie kWH/100km and km. It would take 2 seconds for you in editing to add the text, and would cater to your international audience? Cheers.

    Your tesla comparisons are useless, most people don’t want a tesla because of the company reputation and awful interiors. It’s not just about range.

      Correct, if it was about range then Ionic 5 or just plain diesel. I can drive for 900kms without having the need to ‘recharge’ the tank. I want to stop when it suits me, not the car.

    I’m currently an EV3 driver and attended the launch of this car. My opinion is I do like the look of the car much better than the fastback version. I do prefer to sit a bit higher than this car offers and the boot is bigger in my EV3 . As for the range both the EV3 and the EV4 are more than adequate for everyday driving. I think it’s good that you have a choice between the cars. When the EV2 and EV5 are on sale to complete the range then that should give buyers a great choice.

    1. @anemeth9281 Avatar

      great review. “Comfort Seats” : if you’re an 8 year old no problem. If you a large man, especially one that works out on your legs – bolstered seats are a nightmare. This car isn’t sedate and handsome – unfortunately, it has the vulgar touches of Chinese cars, shame. Screens in cars are just like Laptops – prone to icon hell. So, why not allow each user to have only what they really want displayed 98% of the time ? Most will not be watching/listening YTube on the Autobahn; 70% of drivers don’t use Apple. The Driver’s mid storage looks awkward and inconvenient – strange Kia messed that up. Positives: it’s a KIA and not Chinese rubbish so spares, Warranty , Service and the security of knowing your Family will not die in an electrical fire/explosion – is comforting.
      Did I mention it was a bit ugly? KIA usually do a fair job of NOT designing cars like kid’s trainers… oh well.
