    With its chunky wheel arches and squared-off styling, the new EV2 looks like a shrunken EV3. But at just over four metres long, it’s exactly the same length as a Vauxhall Corsa Electric and not even quite as tall as a Citroen e-C3! 📏🤔

    So, we have to ask… Is the new Kia EV2 an SUV or just a regular small hatchback?

    A) It’s definitely a small SUV! (Just look at the ride height and those wheel arches!) 🚙
    B) It’s just a hatchback (It’s too small to be called an SUV) 🚗
    C) Who cares about the label? (As long as it’s a good, well-priced EV, I’m sold) ⚡

    Why the obsession about whether it’s an SUV or not? The term has been so overused and misused by motoring journalists that it has become meaningless anyway.

      Every car is an SUV these days! When I was looking at the Ioniq 5 and EV6 and these were described as SUVs, it confirmed to me that the term was completely meaningless. To me they’re both large hatchbacks, or in the case of the EV6, almost a 4-door coupé. I now have an Ioniq 5 and it just doesn’t feel like an SUV.

      it’s completely meaningless because there isn’t a clear definition.
      For me, hatchbacks -> short (ish), SUVs -> tall, inbetween-> crossovers

      There is no obsession. I’m loving this era where we’re not boxed into cars being a hatch, sedan, estate or 4WD. Having said that, reviewers and manufacturers need to be able to describe the cars so us plebs have a point of reference – that’s where terms like SUVs and crossovers come from.

      I suppose because it looks like one … and it’s slightly longer and wider that a classic short wheel based Land Rover 90! Clearly they are not functionally comparable in any way but the style silhouette is what people are describing when using the term SUV.

    EV2 at 50K AUD expected in australia market VS 31k drive away now you can get GAC AION UT with 60kwh, 150kw motor and heat pump, good luck KIA!

    I think I would prefer the 4-seater version to the 5-seater version. The rear seats in the 4-seater can be shifted forwards and backwards, letting you choose between more passenger space and more boot space. However it’s not clear that Kia will actually offer a choice between the 4 and 5 seater anywhere, it might just be some countries get 4, some countries get 5.

    Yes, the EV2 is the car to have. It does everything, well and just the right size for normal people. Better size than the Inster. Kia are reliable, good cars. Good video.

    Great video. And the EV2 (alongside the EV4) are definitely on my list of cars to watch as my current car is stubbornly reliable not giving me an excuse to buy a new one.

    Anyway… may I suggest something to your videos? I know you are a primarily British publication and therefore use British customary units (like miles, miles per gallon, miles per kWh, etc…) and that’s perfectly fine, really! But if it’s not too much trouble for your editor(s), I, and perhaps some other fellow European watchers, would appreciate it, if you put the metric (kilometres, litres per 100 kilometres, kWh per 100 kilometres, etc…) on screen? You don’t even have to mention it in the script.

    I like this car! I’m a big fan of the simple no fuss interior, it feels light and airy. Same with the exterior, its just simple. Can imagine it’ll be a doddle to wash this car! Shame I’m not in the market for a hatchback electric car as this would definitely be in my top 3 to potentially buy 👍🏻
