Luce First Look: Was EVERYONE wrong about Ferraris first EV?

The Ferrari Luce has actually divided viewpoint like couple of brand-new cars ever have. Some state it's a work of art. Others believe Ferrari has entirely lost the plot.
In this first appearance from the Goodwood Celebration of Speed, Ginny gets special access to Ferrari's first-ever totally electrical production cars and truck before the crowds show up. We take a comprehensive walkaround of the design, explore the minimalist Jony Ive-inspired interior, dive into the 1,050 hp electric powertrain and take a look at the engineering behind Ferrari's boldest road automobile yet.
The huge concern is … after seeing it in the metal, do we owe Ferrari an apology?
What do you think? Has Ferrari developed the EV of the future, or should it have stayed real to custom? Let us understand in the comments.

Loathe it or hate it, at least they’ve got plenty of people talking about it. The Jag is great in comparison

Nope. The Jaguar is worse along with Ferrari. I owe BMW an Apology who makes an M3

Design language is minimalistic, functional and intuitive but it doesn’t speak Ferrari

Missing is sexy, I think on some level it needs to look like a hot car to be a proper Ferrari

I think it’s an interesting car for around $70,000. Maybe $100,000. But it’s stupidly overpriced.

If the car was made by. some random start up from the USA, costed $50k instead of $600k and had a bit more range, that would be very interesting car for enthusiasts.

Which startup Ev car is 1000 hp, has an interior like this and cost 50k?

@Gokhanajplenty of them.. Xiaomi has incredible cars at or near that range and all EV, after being a phone manufacturer for years.. Ferrari has only done cars, this obscenely priced brick was far too out there for most buyers, both in looks and especially in price.. it doesn’t breed new buyers, just new haters

Maybe the joke is on us! This could be just camo for a future 4 door car. But also that center console looks out of place in a Ferrari or luxury car for that matter.

@joshhillis7388 The Xiaomi car does NOT have an interior full of leather and machined aluminium (and only 680hp in the max variant). The closest comparison to this car in the EV world in terms of features and specs would be the Lucid Air in any of the higher end trims, which costs around $200K. That seems like a more realistic price for this build quality without the Ferrari tax.

I’m not sure how tall Ginny is, but this car is huge! The top of the boot lid is in line with her chest and the roof level with her chin. And it’s sitting on 24″ rims, and doesn’t look over wheeled. For any manufacturer it’s a large car, for Ferrari, it’s enormous. I think my biggest gripe with the styling is how the front and rear panels look to be floating above and around the actual cars body that sits in underneath. The bonnet is very short and most relevant, it doesn’t look like a Ferrari. I thought manufacturers liked their cars to be recognisable from 30 metres away. Unmistakable for any other marque. But this has melded into the same smoothed pebble that is the blight of most EV’s.

I’m not a Ferrari purist at all. I hated it at first – especially with those color-matched dinner plate wheels…blech! But with those bigger black wheels and the right exterior color, if I were rich I’d buy one in a heartbeat.

It’s kind of radical-looking, but also understated, somehow! The design is ‘form follows function’ to quite a degree, which is probably why it’s divisive to people. But the close-up shots do the car a favour! Good video!

The Luce looks really good in that colour scheme – inside and out. The blue it launched in may have been a mistake – it gave the car a ‘Lego City’ look.

My thoughts too. I hated it in that horrible blue but this one is OK. Still not liking the front but the rest is fine. I would prefer a proper centre console as I detest the modern iPad stuck to the dash that is in most EVs. My I-Pace is way nicer inside.

We should appreciate the fact that an iconic brand like Ferrari is making a radical effort to explore new stylistic horizons and isn’t content to play it safe for the sake of financial profitability. Taking risks inevitably exposes a company to criticism and ridicule. But only this approach allows for progress—by creating landmark products that will sooner or later become classics. To prove the validity of this style, we’ll need to see, in particular, whether or not Chinese designers adopt it over the next 2 to 3 years.
