    Yeahhhhh,
My favorite time of the week 👍
My long time guilty pleasure is, . . . the VW 181 Kubelwagen . . aka the Thing.
We had 3, and after we bought the Citroën ë-C3 Max, we will probably go to Germany and buy the 4th.
It is a 4 door/4 seat car, that also functions as a Cabrio, a pickup truck a beach buggy and allround easy to maintain transport vehicle.
Imho, the most versatile car ever build. (specially if you have an EV as main transport 😉

Manos sums it up for a lot of people, cars are personal and emotive.

      Hence the acceleration!

If I sold mine now it looks like it has depreciated huge – but as I am keeping it for 10years (at least) who cares.
It is all the 3 year PCP/Lease deals ending now that are driving down the prices. Not to mention S/H worry about the battery even though most have 80 year warranty.

I have one of those Volvos and normally drive quite slowly, but want the 4wheel drive and know how to press the accelerator pedal with sense. However if I am overtaking on an A road it is very handy.

I have a model Y Preformance, the acceleration is very handy for overtaking safety. The Tesla’s 3 and Y Preformance are less that 1/2 faster 0-60 than a M4 BMW and Audi RS4.

My guilty pleasures are (will be) the MG Cyberster (already ordered) and the Alfa Junior Veloce (will change my current MG ZS for it)

You’re griping about the Model 3 Performance when you could buy the base model for much less…

Yeah the discussion over the M3P and its acceleration is really all down to choice. You would only choose a performance model because you want it, do you need it… noooo but need and want is an individual choice. other options like the SR, LR are there to choose if you want less performance and more or less range. Not like it’s the only choice to buy a M3P. Why not opt for hyper car performance for £60k when an alternative performing car is a 6 figure sum. As long as there are choices…. Something for everyone. 🤗

Went to the Kia EV3 presentation evening at the dealer. Lovely car! Long range Air with 370 miles will do nicely. They think test drives in Sept/Oct and deliveries this year. Tempted, just need my salary sacrifice to kick in. GT line is over 40k with the paint 🧐 so won’t be doing that!

I was really lucky to be one of the first to take delivery in Scotland/possibly the UK of the Ioniq5 and love it! However the first EV I test drove was the Volvo XC40 recharge twin motor and I agree, was way way too fast! Pulling from junctions coming from plug-in hybrids I was not prepared for the instant speed I was nearly doing to the road limit by the time the wheels had straightened back up! No need for an SUV or family car to be that fast, only to impress people, there’s be so many accidents not reported with EVs for this reason.

Can’t wait to see ur drive of the R5! As mentioned we have a Ioniq5 and this year will be looking for replacement don’t need the size anymore however would like approx 250ish miles range and me and my partner are both in love with the nostalgia of the R5, looks and seems to be great! Bright yellow and red 💛 ❤

Thanks for a point about how fast a car needs to go. For me 4-5 seconds on 0-60 is about right. The pick up for 30-70 is much more important and I really do not need something which goes over 125 MPH at top because there is nowhere in the real world I can take it to do that. What is much more important is not outright speed at these levels but really direct steering, weight, and handling; that is what makes for the fun. As Ginny pointed out something a bit lighter than the MG Sportster and a bit less than the £60k for the 4WD version should sell out. The closest I have seen, just online, looks to be the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce.

The next car where Tom and Mike sit in the backseats for the podcast should be the MG Cyberster!

The funny thing about speed is, I used to drive a Lotus Elise (2002, k-series 4 pot, 1800 engine), and I think the 0-60 time for that, was 6.5 seconds. Now that is a lightweight sports car, green with yellow stripes indeed. And I am about to buy a 2 tonne Škoda enyaq that is only 6.7 secs to 62 mph!

    most anticipated car
    most anticipated DELAYED car
Car reveal with the most reaction (good and bad combined)
    Most room for improvement
In memory of the car that either ended production or never made it to production.

Tom & Mike doing reviews from the back seat of the car that they are reviewing, would be a great idea. Also, for those of you who may remember, they may even morph into the ‘Statler & Waldorf’ of the Electrifying team 🙂

The MG4 X-Power is a perfect example of a car that just isn’t built to handle its power. It has brakes that are virtually dangerous. However, on correctly built performance models (Hyundai Ioniq 5 N), I think they should definitely exist.

I think the Citroen E-C4 is a brilliant model. So often overlooked, but outstandingly comfortable. The new (longer range) models will soon be discounted. On the same car, it is possible to buy one for under £10,000 on a 21 plate.
