I also looked at the iD Buzz as a Commercial Van and the Dealer was also pleased to tell me 18mths… Strange how he wants to visit the showroom and I am the one that is happy to tell him to KEEP LOOKING at his stock… as no-one wants to deal with a snotty dealer!

There is NOTHING from the Government to move EVs forward, so the FUD is simply going to get louder…. It would simple for the Government to say VAT on ICE and no VAT on BEV.

Why try and move the needle when it’s actually transitioning very well. Ok it took that COP thing hosted in my home town but 90% of all our Buses in Glasgow are full Electric, they built a massive and impressive Bus depot and charging area. Basically they all charge at night off more or less renewable electricity.

If I was BUYING a BEV it would be a 2 or 3 year old Model. But I would always consider a lease on any new BEV.

I think the Buzz is a future classic and I imagine VW will do a longer range one with a more efficient and powerful motor and battery. I can see an aftermarket retrofit scene emerging as well to upgrade early models. A factory California and a 3 row version can’t be far away either?

Exeter City Council are moving to Electric Bin Lorries, 3 at the moment. The electricity to charge them comes from their own solar farm with battery storage.

You can buy a leased car at the end of the lease, depends on lease company but often works out cheaper than PCP

Had a little butchers at auto trader and see that some dealers are offering the facelift Peugeot e208 style trim from under £20k 😏

All this talking about trucks has just given me an earworm of ‘I love trucking’ song from not the nine o’ clock news, I really hope you have recreated it in your video 😂

I did consider the Honda e:Ny1 with the price cut, but I don’t think they have a heat pump. 😢

I love Fr. Ted! I am now going to have to stream ‘speed”, the bit with the cardboard boxes gets me every time 😂🤣

If I were a Bentley owner and they made us go to the local VW garage, I would just send the driver… Lol!

Another great episode, thank you 👏🏻

As a truck driver, i have to admit that when I’m in smaller vehicles and I come to junctions, I’m often sat there waiting for a larger gap than i need for the vehicle I’m in.

On the subject of EV haters for the charging network, I admit I did have my fears on committing to my Niro EV for 3 years on Motability. However, even though I am a permanent wheelchair user and circumstances have meant I needed to do 1600 miles in my first 7 weeks of full EV driving I’m delighted to say we’ve had no major issues with public charging. Every 2 weeks we are driving from Yorkshire to Wales and back and each time we have charged at a different place on our return journey. So far I’ve been able to access each charger without too much hassle – which has been a huge relief. I know a lot of disabled people are put off from making the switch to EV ( and I do not want to make light of anyone else’s circumstances) , but I feel that EVs really can work for many, if only we could combat the FUD from the media more effectively.

Great episode as always. One comment on the PCP debate. The one benefit in paying off the balloon payment is that you know the full history of the car from new, so it’s more a question of what the car is worth to you. Obviously if the payment is far more than secondhand value then walk away but otherwise it’s worth considering I think.

There are 2 positions here. The balloon may be eg £16k on a 3 year old PCP but the sale price to sell to a dealer may be eg £15 k. So technically its in negative equity. Ignore private sales for the sake of argument as not everyone is happy doing that. So you may decide no I am not paying £16k as I have lost £1k. However the lowest dealer price you could buy a three year old same car at the same mileage may be eg £18k. Plus you don’t really know what the new used cars condition is actually like. So if you actually liked the car and wanted to keep it, then it would be worthwhile doing so, as it would be £2k lower than you could get it elsewhere.

Thoughts on the Mazda MX30, as Mike said, “every pan has its lid”, a cracking way of sharing his thoughts. Top one Mike. We are all different (pans) and depending on circumstances have different preferences (lids). Feel free to correct me if I got it totally wrong.
