On the subject of taxes. 40k Luxury car tax should be revisited.

Why? Anyone who can afford a new car over 40K ain’t skint

Because it’s not changed for 12 years, yet cars have basically doubled in price over that time.
£40k gets a basic family car now, not a luxury car.

Why are you even commenting, you hate EVs, yet haven’t even driven one.

@johnnodge4327Really……. have you got dementia? Because many times I’ve posted that I Have driven EVs various….. including my friends Porsche Taycan quite quick in a straight line but boring as cold dishwater…. and if you could direct me to where I’ve supposedly said i hate EVs? What i will say is I’m not getting one any time soon 😊
Anyway I stick to my comment anyone who can afford a new car….. of any sort over £40K ain’t short of a few quid…. Wait for the Budget should be interesting

I was surprised the pay per mile was held out to 2028 to be honest. Electric transiiton has done a good video on it.

I totally agree that the Government messaging is totally mad in regards to an EV. Before attacking the EV Drivers, they should stop the 15 year hold on fuel duty. They should move all cars to the basic £195 and add a real world extra for the emissions. This would stop the £20-30 diesel drivers and those benefitting from false emissions. Think of dieselgate and cheating the tests. Also remove all of the tax deals for big oil that run into billions of pounds. The number of EV’s as a proportion of all traffic is still low and we need to properly tax ICE before EV’s to encourage the switch.
In the long run, we may be able to have a cheaper pay per mile as Government would not help big oil, and the NHS would do better as increased health due to removing most of the harmful emissions.

On another note, it is great that we are now seeing new cars starting to release where the BEV is cheaper than the hybrid.

Maybe add duty and VAT to airline fuel and shipping fuel too, right now it’s all free of tax yet they are the biggest polluters.

@stevenbarrett7648Just Ban all but essential flights and shipping or put a big pay per mile cost on top

Hey there – thank you for reading out my comment regarding the Citroen EC3 and its lack of cabin preconditioning. I can confirm it is NOT in the car OR in the app. I have had message after message from Citroen UK saying it is coming but we don’t know when. This is the same today as it was in March. So if the Press Office says the same and doesn’t give you a definitive answer I will NOT be surprised. Thank you for saying you will look into this. I look forward to hearing the result!

To deal with the last point first in the KHH, you can not be unkind enough to a Vauxhall Mokka, after all it is just a Vauxhall no matter how hot it pretends to be. Screens really do need a lot less emphasis and the seriously expensive cars are now doing that – Bentley, Porsche, Audi new concept car, and Mini to a degree. Finally if you want to open new swear jars reserve one for “city car” that last refuge of the lazy car journalist. But above all keep up KHHs which come out on late Saturdays.

The incompetence of the current Government with respect to promoting EV adoption is embarrassing. Still, it could be worse we could have deform making the policy

Re coment from (world of cars) i too live on the 1st floor in flats however, having jumped through many hoops i have a charger installed at me flat, it can be done but you may have to make the odd little sacrifice.

I think that’s a great move – and thanks for sharing. I suspect that properties with charging will be more valuable than those without, so the hassle was so worthwhile, and others should bear the resale value in mind.

A chargepoint is a valuable upgrade to a property, whether you need it yourself or not.

The only thing I don’t like about a car with an iPad holder rather than a screen is the risk that someone would break the window and steal it. That risk might result in you having to remove it and take it with you – removable stereo fronts, anyone? With something the size of an iPad, that would not be very convenient!

Howarerareismycar filtered by engine electric has 270k Teslas, 129k VWs, 124k BMWs, 100k Audis, 98k MG & 96k Mercedes cars taxed in the UK. So a few will have been scrapped or SORNed and they have a smattering of other electric categories in the engine lists as well. Kia had about 87k and Hyundai about 77k

Minimalistic in the cabin for me, I don’t like lots of dials and knobs, our Tesla suits me fine. After driving EV’s for 11+ years to me it’s just another car, we don’t even look at how many miles are left half the time, our biggie is can it fit in an IKEA full sized wardrobe flat pack or take the two massive builder bags full of garden rubbish to the tip?. Answer is yes it can!. I guess our inexperienced government has effectively killed this month’s EV sales by doing their Edwina Curry trick regarding going electric, pity. Pay per mile will have pensioners and others on fixed incomes packing in driving so even less revenue for the Exchequer. Hopefully the Robo-cabs will be arriving in the next few years which will kill private vehicle ownership dead, I guess we can expect to see a reduction on the roads of up to 75% as we move over to pay per mile robot taxi services. I wonder what they will do for revenue streams then, it’s not just the missing fuel duty but also things like parking fines and safety camera fines, who will pay for our judiciary?

Continuing the no home EV charger theme… I’d love to see how folks who thought they couldn’t have a home charger, overcome hurdles like living in a flat or terrace house and finding solutions to actually getting one installed. I’d like to see the challenges and solutions. I live in a flat, and although I’d love an EV, it’s too big a hurdle without a home charger.

2 points. Regarding eye lid. Baking soda/powder in warm water compress should help best. But, if you are vaping with nic salt liquids. They dry your skin out, , the clue is the salt bit I guess. Anyway, stop immediately and use the old type liquid, sore/burning eyelids is early warning symptom. Second, regarding the Online Safety act…. has Barnard dug out his huge vintage jazz mag collection now the more discerning gentlemen’s websites are blocked?
