    It’s the sub-£10k market that seems to be growing. Old style MG5s and Hyundai Ioniqs are going for £8k which will bring EVs into a whole new market that’s not really converted yet. One day we’ll have proper EVs (i.e. 150-250 mile ranges) at £3/4/5k and the MASS 2nd hand market.

    Great Podcast as always – the subject of the heat pump needs further research so I look forward to you digging in to that. However the idea of preconditioning the car to assist with not losing range is a sore point. In the Citroen EC3 the word ‘preconditioning’ is a four letter word amongst owners! I have owned my EC3 for 7 months and despite promise after promise from Citroen UK of an update to provide this facility it has still not arrived. Despite the car being sold with this facility in all the advertising it has never been available. As we head into the cold weather none of us can precondition the cabin! And there is still no date being offered to us by when the update will be available…. We’re not impressed. Your thoughts? Keep up the good work at Electrifying 🙂

    Don’t be afraid of using the T word. The EV market and your business wouldn’t exist without Tesla, setting the bar, building out a charging network etc.
    My model 3 is going back next week so I’m done with them but I wouldn’t be 4 years into EVs without it.

      It wouldn’t be the same without them. It’s a shame they have such political overheads but it makes them untouchable for the time being. It could wear off but the association is too repulsive for many now. Just be a nice person, child poverty and everything will be forgiven

    I Have Mobility car no off road Parking or Charging i got a IONIQ 5 LONG RANGE 84 KW at the Time the Advanced Payment was £1600 But its a Great Car with long range and i charge at Tesla Super chargers which are the Cheapest in the Uk ?

    In 2017 I bought a Zoe and paid for the battery. I sold the car easily in 2020:but selling one with the battery lease would definitely have been more difficult because it would have been about £70 per month which is a lot of you don’t do many miles.

    There was a lot of criticism of the way in which the EV grant was introduced and structured. Some of that was reasonable BUT because it had strict criteria that some manufacturers couldn’t possibly meet it’s meant they have to fund their own version of it. That’s leveraged the impact of the government’s funding quite nicely,

    I can’t believe I have beaten Jinny in driving a new car. I did find a lot of Omoda and Jaecoo. In the car. However build quality was better than some Mercedes I have driven.

    I’ve noticed the Chinese cars are really bad for the safety feature noises. I test drove the MG IM6 todays, very nice car but it kept moaning at me even though I was always looking at the road.

    I really think the EU regulations need to change. You should be able to make the car remember your safety settings. If anyone is after a used BMW i4, I would recommend the pre face lift. Mine is 2023 and it remember its settings. I leave it on a polite nudge on the steering wheel for lane assist and silent blinking in the head up display if you exceed what it thinks the speed limit of the road (it gets it wrong sometimes). My friend has the 2024 and it rests itself every time…

    I have a BYD Seal and love it so much, but the safety stuff is crazy, I have to turn a few things off every time, fine to come on evr=erytime but manufacturers should create personal buttons that remember your settings, one push of one button on the home screen and problem solved. Why you are there, link it to the memory seats button, job done. 🙂

    The Govt grant turned out to be no great shakes. Buy a Kia EV3 on a PCP deal with Kia Finance and the price is reduced by £3750. Sign up with part ex, take delivery and then pay off the loan; I paid ours off after a couple of weeks and got a rebate of around £2700 for early settlement. We have a nice letter from Kia Finance telling us the car is ours!

    Well done Tom for holding out for smaller wheels. The Twingo is destined for city streets where there are speed bumps and pot holes and cobbles. It does not need sports car feel to the steering at the cost of bursting expensive tyres on those pot holes and sunken drain covers. If the Twingo is being sold as an affordable car it should be fitted with affordable tyres!

      Larger wheels are also much easier to kerb because of lack of protection from a bigger sidewall

    Yeah I live in Australia and Peugeot did go with the idea of pricing themselves as a more prestigious brand here and it kind of works for them BC they are very rare on the roads making them very much stand out and turn your heads thinking “oh wow what’s that” but that’s BC Australia puts tarrifs on cars coming in from Europe lmao. Doesn’t bother me tho, BC it keeps the tariffs off the Chinese cars, so the Geely EX5 your talking about starts at £22,000 here (could be cheaper this time of year for Christmas and end of MY24 deals since we’ve already had the car for almost a year here if not longer.

    Wow, when I saw the ‘half hour’ was out today thought I had missed the boat for getting my question in, good work. Funny enough when I first saw the Avenger had a AWD version I got very excited, not so much when I saw it was a hybrid, but you are right the choice of tyres makes a big differance and that might be the route to go.

    RIP Quentin Wilson hopefully you’ll have a post-edit piece at the end of the show as I know this was filmed before his passing. Also Ginny did you not look at the charging/charge port on the Twingo at all, from what I’ve seen it has NO CCS so it’s AC only charging…really Renault in 2025!!
