The new BMW iX3 is the world’s best mid-size SUV in the world, whether electric or ICE. And it’s the best electric SUV across all classes

The range and charging specs are impressive. It’s too expensive for me, but it’s nice to see the technology improving.

Have you not seen the demos of Hyundais driving themselves to DC chargers, and robotic arms charging the car before it drives off again. Wireless charging could help with cable theft, and if they go down the wireless road route you just charge as you commute

You were dearly missed in my house last week, glad you are back, I hope you all enjoyed your well deserved break.
Looking forward to seeing what Munich has to offer, might even get to see the final VW ID2 / ID2X and possibly a release date, it feels like we have been waiting ages for this car.

When talking about the TT and Boxster or MX5 e rival although not a sports car and far from perfect we need to give credit to MG for the Cyberster, it’s a good looking car, I mean they gave it a good go and have been the first really to even attempt a half decent go at a sports soft top.

Hi team! I recently got a 2021 e-Niro 4+ and haven’t got a home charger installed yet, but do have plug sockets at the back of our garage, so I found a waterproof extension cord from Tough Leads specifically for EV granny charging with a built in RCD.

I’ve now realised that I don’t need a 7kw charger at home because I regularly top my Niro up overnight or when I’m in the office once a week. It’s been working very well and would definitely recommend it to people who don’t have a home charger installed yet!

Did the same with a e golf for 4 years. Just check it doesn’t get too hot, or run it at 5A and not 10A if time is irrelevant

Exactly saving the £1000 for a charger, is tricky if you can get enough charge most nights in the cheap period

While it’s feels wrong to recommend a rival, check out Autogefühl’s review of the Porsche wireless charger. Porsche claim 90% efficiency and has automatic shutoff if anything goes between the car and charger, so no damaged cats. The in car screens guide your drive over the charger to the correct position, though it did look a bit slow. It is rather pricey at €5,000 for the charge pad and €2,000 for the inductive charger on the car (plus a lot for the electric Cayenne).

Tesla FSD can already park and move as needed; it literally just needs to be told to do so. Wireless charging is the only thing missing.

As an Australian I find the prices you have in UK/EU quite amazing. When considering between the BYD Seal, Tesla Y, Polestar 4 and CLA, I’ll share the prices (on road) for the base model of the first three here in Aus.
    Seal Dynamic – AU$50,273 (GBP 24,394)
    Tesla Y RWD – AU$64,120 (GBP 31,113)
    Polestar 4 Long Range Single Motor – AU$85,902 (GBP41,682)
CLA – unknown but will be more than twice the price of the Seal.
They’re not really in the same price bracket.

The new iX3 looks better with the removal of the bucktooth/beaver tooth grill and with 600km real-world range(ev-database) that is great. I’ll have to agree to disagree with Vicky with the induction charging it’s improved alot since it came out think of your phone now and think of the all the vandals who won’t be able to cut cables to sell the copper since the cables will all be underground. It may be 10 or 15yrs before cars move themselves around but it could happen considering Tesla has launched the FSD robotaxi’s in the US and the Chinese who have equivalent self-driving tech in China in production never mind Waymo.

Battery questions for Tom: can they see a situation where a car’s battery pack has different chemistries in different parts of the pack to get the car going in really cold weather for example? How do cars cool a battery pack in really hot weather if the car does not have a heat pump?
