I was watching this video but had to divert to a video on “Miniature Wonderland”. When I came back to this video, it was gone! A half hour later it was back. But the sound was still messed up. No matter. I still love the video.

Gentleman explorer? How about Flinders Petrie! Oh wait, there were no Renault 4s in Petrie’s day.

Ha I was watching and randomly said it was unavailable. I presume the sound has been fixed. Many thanks! : )

You should only compare the BYD Surf with other 4-seat cars.

That would be the forthcoming Renault Twingo and yet unnamed Nissan A-segment car. Both also on the AmpR Small platform like the R4/5/Micra.

I spotted the Origami Cockerel in the orignal review video, I did comment at the time but it’s nice to know it’s indeed intentional. I suspect it’s there because the Micra (like the R4/5) is an Ampere made vehicle, which is now a joint Renault and Nissan venture since Nissan invested €600m last year into it. I wonder if this will be Ampere’s logo/vehicle-watermark going forwards as the original one was more Renault inspired.

Not only have I heard of Miniatur Wunderland, I’ve been to it – twice – in the warehouse district of Hamburg. Don’t forget to mention that the lighting changes from dawn to midday to dusk to night during the course of about 15 minutes. It’s glorious!

If you have to fast car a small car like an Intsta or R-4, maybe you should instead look at an LFP battery in something like a BYD Dolphin?

Of course I’ve seen a video of the World’s largest model railway. Also risen on a few full size ‘model railways’, the Great Little Trains of Wales 🙂

I thought the don’t charge to 100% was more to do with the time it takes to get from 80% to 100% and the early battery chemistries. Charging most at home to 100% can be done safely for LFP batteries, and some others, as long as there is battery management(most cars, Nissan couldn’t be bothered for early leaf’s!

I don’t mind manufacturers building performance cars, though I’d never own one myself. However, if they do then they should also build a LOC version (Luxe Old Codger version😁).

Something with better ride quality, to save our bad backs, an improved interior with squidgy door panels soft touch everything, sensible performance so to keep the insurance down, and as a nod to not having one foot in the grave, an amazing sound system 🎚️🎛️, well it will save on hearing aid batteries, as I can turn them off listening to The Four Seasons: Winter by Valvadi at full blast. 🎼🎵🎶 😂

I took delivery of my Hyundai Ioniq 5 84 kWh long range in January this year and have covered around 5000 miles in it so far. As a first EV I have been more than happy with nearly every aspect of ownership of the car. If I do have one complaint about EV ownership, it’s the ridiculous state of fast chargers at our motorway services. With the level of uptake of EVs across the motoring industry and the Government’s own stated plans for new energy transport systems. It seems almost laughable that most services only have about half a dozen chargers and usually only a couple of those are fast chargers! Even more annoying is that within sight there are usually 15-20 Tesla chargers already installed and working whilst quite often at least one or more of the standard chargers are out of order. More than once now I have had to leave the motorway and seek out a fast charger at another place such as fast food restaurants and business parks. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this or even your experiences. Thanks for a great podcast and I always like to hear what’s new and upcoming in this fast paced field.

When I test drove the Byd Seal Performance in the Autumn I was disappointed by the efficiency and regen and seemed to be all on the brakes. It was fun to drive although the boot was impractical for such a large car and the tech was not intuitive enough.

Love the weekly chat and have always watched the Youtube version. Hope that gets counted in the podcast as I can’t be the only one.
Re the cheap Spring it almost makes me want one for a second car to use for tips to the tip, diy store etc!
Thanks again for the shout out this week.
Also I know it is easy to find your website, but funny there is no direct link in the video details where all the socials are listed. (Jay-wolf)
