To help with turbulence, open the back window on the same side. Don’t worry abut the Land Rover weight, you only ever see one person in it, two at a push

I had an older Kia Soul with max range 80 miles. Loved it. But we changed it for a bigger range car, the E Niro, which has 280+. Even though we don’t do long journeys all the time, our age and limited mobility means we don’t need to charge it very frequently when we do a long run.

Imagine buying a car on Amazon, coming home to find it squashed and hid in next doors recycling tubs

Now that I’ve heard Ginny do horse noises (you’re onto a whinny there!) I’d like to be able to change the low speed noise of my R5 to the Monty Python coconut horsey clip-clops, just to be silly. Speaking of my R5, I’ve had it for 5 days now, and am fully in love with it even with a few niggles. I took it for a spirited drive over the moors roads, which were undulating and poorly surfaced, and it was noticeably bouncy and a little unsettled on the worst sections, so there is something about the suspension setup and/or tyre squishiness of EVs on some roads that is disappointing. Aside from that it’s a great drive and a lot of fun to chuck about on twisty roads, and very zippy around town too, where it gets a lot of attention.

I’d have thought the cheaper option for manufacturers would be to cover the cost of the road tax for the first owner, allow them to claim a credit every year or similar, instead of dropping the price of the cars below the threshold

Thanks for another great show. As I’m sure you know, many, if not most, cars only offer the smaller engine with lower trim. Even needing a powered boot can mean also having to go for the higher trim and consequently the larger engine.

Ginny is a fountain of sound effects this week. Also sound like the Chamberlain from the dark crystal.

Early Land Rovers solved that airflow instead of aircon problem by having two long hinged flaps underneath the windscreen that you could crank open to send fresh air into your face.

One of the biggest concerns I had from moving to the ID7 Tourer was how wide it would be and the fun that would cause with parking etc. However although it is far wider and more comfortable inside and a whale of a length it does not feel wide or handle like a bus. With the various sensors and cameras and wing mirrors in the space it takes is no more than your average family hatchback.
When I look at some of the cars parked up they really are hogging the spaces although I have to take care due to the length rather than width !

I think the smaller battery EV6 a good idea and I imagine many other manufacturers going for a just sub £40k base model. I recently bought a standard range Polestar 2 (WLTP about 330 miles so not exactly a short range car) but I didn’t see the need for the long range version. I’m only likely to do two trips per year where I have to public charge and the long range wouldn’t do that without a stop either. In my use case so long as I get a real world 220 miles I’m happy because there are a few 100 mile each way journeys I do from time to time

Totally agree about narrow parking spaces, our flats were designed in the 60’s, and I assume the parking spaces were based on a Ford Anglia or similar, Both my neighbour and me have to park tight to the fences to leave enough space to get in and out of the doors.

Tom missed the US price on the Slate. It costs $27,000 US dollars less the $7,500 federal tax credit. So it will cost about the same as a Leaf in Europe.

I have been over some undulating and rough roads and I have found the ID7 Tourer to be more than capacble, really stable bit I do have the adaptive suspension and steering so maybe that helps?

Thank you good people. I really love to come to a channel that’s not driven by AI, that is not telling me what tot hink about climate change, that is not touting the “green energy revolution” and windmills.
This channel is just all about finding out all the good and the bad about EV’s, and telling us what to take into account when shopping for them. It’s also one of the most heartwarming youtube families i know about.
Your “down to earth” way to communicate and all the great humor just gives a warm feeling.

About EV call outs being about flat tires, at least in the US, 50% of new cars don’t come with a spare at all, whereas older cars more often have them. It’s only natural that EVs, virtually none of which carry a spare both because they’re newwr and are built to save weight, need help when there’s a flat. ICE cars on average are simply older and more likely to carry a spare. They may even be twice as likely to.
