    I can’t believe 460 miles from the DS7…. It’s a Stellantis car. Their efficiency is desperate. Add in the HORRENDOUS devaluation of every DS.
    Not a snowball in hell’s chance. I would buy a BMW!

    There is not one single DS that has been well priced. Stellantis then offer massive discounts. It is such a massive massive “not a hope” from me!

    VAG could learn so much from Tesla in having LIMITED MODELS and having true mass production on the actual models that it does sell.

    For me it is the combination of efficiency, charging speed and range that makes for a great EV. That’s that Björn Nyland’s 1000 km challenge (best cars like Zeekr 7x, BMW iX3, Tesla model S etc. achieve it with 3 <15 minute charging stops) and the Out of Spec 10% tests (Zeekr 7GT did 197 miles at 75 mph on a 15 minute charging session from 10% SOS) are so good at highlighting which cars are excellent on all three criteria.

    While the content of this show is excellent as always can you spend more time improving the video and audio quality please. It started off in the garden cabin with the camera hunting to find the right colour balance and the audio remaining very poor throughout. Batch’s video and audio was better but video overexposed. For a channel that has close to 250k subscribers and significantly more viewers, please, please spend a bit more time getting the video and audio up to the standard your rival channels have already attained.

    With car colours I recently came across a fact they may explain the current crop of car colours. More than 40% of UK people have one or other form of colour blindness. So grey black and silver make no difference to the colour blind, and there are lots and lots of those about.

    I don’t think eVED IS coming in too soon. With 25% of new cars not paying ANY fuel duty the government are losing a LOT of revenue.

    Hi Electrifying from California. When I bought my 2024 Ioniq 5, I wanted a long range and fast charging, because I do make 2-4 longer road trips each year, up and down the US west coast. In 2.5 years, I have also come to the conclusion that really long range is not important (even here in the land of long distances), and even that exceptional charging speed isn’t really so critical, either, since, as everyone is keen to point out, if you go to the bathroom and get a coffee, you’ve covered the charge time for even moderate charging speed. This really expands my choices for my next EV. My wife is extremely interested in the Slate, now expected to have a ~200 mile range, and this doesn’t seem to me to be a problem at al..

    VW is starting to sound like British Leyland, so many models but reducing the range didn’t save it. At least VW still have a half decent reputation for quality.

    When driving I need to stop to drink, feed and toilet myself. The longest I can last is 4 hours (the Highway Code advises 2 hours). I therefore stop and plug the car in if on a long journey. Therefore at the UK average road speed of 50 mph why would I need a useable range of more than 200 miles (100%-15%?) in good weather when the long drives are? My Renault 4 e-tech has an official range of just under 250 miles and it hasn’t been a problem. Who are these animals who can drive for 500 miles or more without a drink, food, or toilet break?

    Those who can’t charge at home are already paying pay-per-mile with the 20% VAT on public charging. As opposed to the 5% paid by those who can charge at home.

    3p per mile is £30 per 1000 miles which doesn’t sound as bad and is well under the fuel duty and VAT would be on the petrol used for equivalent mileage. As EV owners we need to contribute towards the roads. Personally I’ll be looking at between £200 and £240 per year based on the last few years.

    Another fabulous video, thank you again for the great content!

    I would find it interesting for the electrifying team to do an episode on your own personal cars, reasons for purchase and car history. As an audience that takes your advice, I’d be interested in what you have selected for yourselves and where you have spent your own hard-earned money.

    Having got to know Mike personality via content, his choices in ioniq 5, Buzz and i3 make sense as they’re what I would call ‘style cars’ (regardless of how good they actually are) but I can imagine him choosing those cars. Barnrd is sensible and careful so I could imagine in a Nissan Leaf.

    If I had to guess:
    Ginny – (Kia EV6 – only bought it for the space in the back for her son and the fast charging)
    Batch – (MG was mentioned, so MG4 in Orange with trousers to match)
    Vicky – Jaguar I-pace with no intentions to replace it
    Nic – Mercedes EQC… she’s a bougie gal and is all about the ambient lighting
    Nicki – Peugeot 5008 mum buss with packs of baby wipes in each door pocket and wheels on the bus on repeat
    Lucas – Vauxhall Corsa E and rags it within an inch of its life

    Probs miles off, but had fun guessing!

    Out of curiosity why shouldn’t the DS be the price of the BMW, from what I have seen they are out specing BMW and other German brands, and we all know these German brands have reduced their quality on builds and interiors yet have continued to increase their prices, DS materials and quality often out shines these other experience brands, I really like DS and want them to do well, I think people need to try them before taking them out of their possible purchases.

    The problem with the Abarth models is the range is not good enough, especially as they are meant to be driven hard and will be, their small range will be even less in the real world.

    We currently have a diesel car and want to go electric. Budget is £8k if we keep the diesel for longer drives or £10k if we sell the diesel, but in that case it needs to have long range and decent charging speeds. If it’s a 2nd car it needs to be less than 4.2m long to fit on our drive and range and charging isn’t important but it will be doing school run so we need proper back doors (not suicide doors). I’ve looked at many many cars online, but all of the choices have issues. The 52kwh Zoes have the airbag issue and are pretty tight in the back seats. Corsas (and presumably all first gen Stellantis products that use that tech?) seem to get charging problems but do look great value. VW ID3 doesn’t have proper buttons, ditto Teslas. The Kia Niro and Hyundai Kona are obvious options but so boring to look at! What would you go for? Maybe an old 22kwh battery owned Zoe might be the best value solution (Leaf is too big to fit) but worry the constant need to charge the tiny battery will get annoying.
