On about companies taking their time to make cars , how long did vw take to make the Ev polo . I could have died been reborn and got remarried and had grandchildren by the time vw got their act together and get the car on the road

19:41 is sold out because of all the offers they piled on it, too, like a free charger, plus credit on some charging network.

Automakers are more and more becomming coachbuilders like in the very old times of car making. You take a platform and put on your own tophat.

The BYD Atto 2 does 155 kW (not kWh), so almost the same as the Audi Q4 e-tron. Let that sink in.

I liked manual gear boxes as well, but in an EV? No way. That’s nonsense. Such as fake engine sounds. It’s for classic cars, yes. Leave it there.

What would be good is to cover charging cables being stuck in sockets, whether it’s in the car socket or an AC charger socket… Many people don’t do their homework on this & especially for the car sockets, expect the charging network to be able to help them get the cable released not realising that the locking mechanism is in the car. Also, not every car, whether a BEV or PHEV, has a manual release mechanism.

On Twin tests we need a World Cup style shoot out. BMW iX3 vs Xpeng G6, Mercedes GLC vs Tesla Model Y, Volvo EX60 vs BYD Sealion 7 & Porsche Macan vs Zeekr 7X. Winners through to a semi final and then a final

In terms of apps on test cars that are getting swapped between the team, where you get codes etc, consider setting up a generic email address to register them all against. In theory you’ll be able to reuse the accounts when you get another car if the same brand. Yes, it might need a company card linked to it rather than the specific team member, but it could make things easier.

Regarding apps, when my Audi A6 e-tron broke down, I was given a Q4 e-tron as a loaner which I had for just under 2 weeks but one of the first things I did was add the car to my Audi app as the car came with the ID card. This way, I could activate the AC to cool the car down. Carl,

I would love to know what happened to Nissan selling the Silence S04 in the UK. I keep looking but they aren’t updating their info, though they do keep emailing me about the Qashqai which I have no interest in, seemingly not understanding how email lists work.

Ideally, getting both would be best but many (me included) would ALWAYS prefer more range than increased charging speeds. I’d rather go on a road trip and be able to complete my trip to and fro, on one charge, than trying to find a fast (grossly overpriced) charger to plug in.

I enjoy viewing your reviews and the Kilowatt half hour, but being in Canada I am jealous of your choices in EVs. We have a much smaller number of vehicles to choose from, but there is hope now that some Chinese brands will soon be available here. I wanted to mention that as a 74 year old with arthritis, flush door handles can be challenging, especially during a Canadian winter. I had a Tesla model Y but exchanged it for a Polestar 2 due to the political situation between Canada and the US and Elon’s unacceptable behaviour. And I have a much easier time with the Polestar handles. It is something to consider for old farts like me.
    Cheers,
    Bill Voller

Hello Electrifying Team. Long time watcher & listener and first time commenting .

1st about how many EVs people have owned should be split between company users and home users as my wife and I have owned 2 EVs each since 2022. My wife had a Vauxhall Corsa E and now drives a Hyundai Ionic 6. My first EV ( Ginny would be proud) Skoda Enyaq 60 and now I drive a Skoda Elroq vRS. So 4 EVs we’ve had in our household.

2nd talking about Apps, I think Skoda App is really good because it has a sub room within the app called Green Room. in there are challenges which completed offer points and what does points make…….Prizes ( well actually Rewards ). Anything from a Creative Notebook (for kids) to a water bottle, from Baseball Cap to a Travel Bag. So the more challenges completed the more points you can cumulate. The best part is the challenges renews with a different Skoda EV. Ie when I bought my new Elroq all the challenges that were completed reset for the new car.

Keep up the amazing good work and look forward to hearing the next podcast/video

Charging speeds of that Audi are fine. It will have a 10% to 80% of under half an hour which is around the most that you’re likely to charge on a public charger on a longer journey. A half an hour break to have a drink and toilet break and just as importantly a break from driving.
The use cases for needing a 400kwh charging speed (assuming you can find a charger that fast) are pretty small and I suspect most people in those circumstances would sit in their car for the ten minutes it takes to charge to 80% and then go for a break anyway, a bit like an ICE vehicle.

Steer by wire has nothing to do with a gearbox🤓
It refers to the steering column not being directly attached to the wheels👍
