Can’t see many people walking past the R5 to buy that.

There are markets, where Renault is not present.

It’ll age better than the R5 for sure.

R5 is Renault but I get what you mean.

But given that it’s made at the same European Renault factory which makes the Renault 5, it’s unlikely Nissan will be bringing it to many markets Renault doesn’t also operate in…

AFAIK it’s not going to be made in Japan…

Hmmmm, one pedal mode inmproving efficiency is a myth. It’s more efficient to accelerate, then coast and let the car slow due to friction than it is to accelerate, foot off and gain back 60-70% of the energy that you’ve used via regen. Avoiding braking and regen is much more efficient.

Agree. One legal driving if done properly is really nice though.

Agree. I also prefer coasting , but OPD should be available.

I prefer coasting too, it keeps you looking further ahead and makes you safer overall.

@@thejfg7741 I’m unsure about that, I really don’t know how it’s programmed in an EV. I know I could drive more efficiently than standard cruise control when I had a diesel car, but ACC and an EV are beyond my comprehension.

I mean, an EV Micra should have been produced since at least 2016, back when the Note was introduced with the ePower hybrid only available in Japan

The problem is, you’ll have to explain to everyone that it is ‘basically a Renault 5 underneath’. And so, why buy this? The Renault is the one to have.

Targeting different demographics perhaps – their respective adverts seem to indicate so.

Nice to see Vicky doing one of the live reviews. This car will have to compete on price or financing because the Renault brand works better in Europe with the R5 more or less the same car. Maybe the Nissan brand works better outside of Europe in which case it will pick up sales in other markets.

I can see people buying the Nissan Micra it is a fantastic looking EV , not everyone wants a Renault 5, it’s about people’s preferences & Choice, Manufacturers often use each others Components to reduce manufacturing costs , Choice, choice, choice, Thank you.😁

It does have a unique selling point, flappy paddles for regenerative braking. Something the Renault 5 doesn’t have.

    @richardgledhill

Good review, thanks – but… how many times… DIFFERENT REGEN LEVELS DO NOT AFFECT EFFICIENCY!! Aside from Teslas where it’s always on max regen, it makes NO difference what your regen setting is – just have a look at the power meter, when you brake, it regens first irrespective of your paddle setting. No regen, coasting, max regen, it’s all the same, literally just calibrations of the right pedal, nothing more. Anything else is just personal driving style and preference.
    Rant over 🙂

Could even lower efficiency if you are yo-yo ing your speed because you can’t get the throttle right to stick at X speed you want.

I prefer the Micra Over R5 because R5 is well known maybe too much and makes the Micra a more exclusive

So let me get this straight: they’ve decided to release a Nissan version of the R5, they have completely ignored all the criticism the R5 got, didn’t fix or change anything (except for the styling, obviously) and just re-released the exact same car? What the hell were they thinking? No wonder the European manufacturers are (or going to be) in deep poopoo. They’re sooo arrogant and ignorant, it makes me want to say a lot of bad words about the management. One of them starts with F.
