Fiat Grande Panda FIRST DRIVE – Is Fiat’s £21k electric supermini an EV gamechanger? | Electrifying

Read the review:

The Fiat Panda has actually been a runaway success, especially in Italy, where it's as typical as espresso. Now, Fiat is taking things up a notch with the – the first of an entire Panda household set to show up by 2027, consisting of a city and truck, an SUV, a coupé, and even a mini-MPV.

This is no normal Panda. At 3.99 metres long, it's 30cm longer than the outbound fuel model. It shares its foundations with the Citroën e-C3, keeping costs down while offering 195 miles of variety from a 44kWh battery and 100kW DC fast charging.

A standout feature is the connected spiral charging cable, housed in a special front hatch. No more carrying a dirty cable television around in the boot– just plug in and go!

At under ₤ 22,000, the is priced identically to the e-C3, making it a seriously inexpensive electric option. It's formally rated at 4.4 miles per kWh, however its boxy shape and 111bhp motor may affect real-world efficiency.

The Panda lands later this year– but would you pick it over the Citroën e-C3 or rivals from MG and BYD? Join Nicola for the complete low-down and don't forget to let us know what you think in the comments below.

I like the steelies too! What a pain the alloys are in real life, and so much less durable, AND more expensive. Nicely painted steelies are very cool.

How hard do you drive? I’ve never damaged an alloy wheel.

Clearly you are someone who can not drive or park without scraping the alloys lol

I had the original Panda, it was a brilliant little car: very essential, great flexibility, we did sleep in it (2 adults) and my dog loved it. I hated with a passion how they had remodelled it, making it a “normal” car. This is brilliant, it’s a jewel of design, it’s making older people admire how a wink to the past is translated into a modern desirable supermini.

I parked next to an obviously restored original panda 4×4 yesterday. It was on steelies and looked fantastic

I like to de-ice at my local petrol station. I’m quite happy to park my EV wherever I want 😂, especially at the closest pumps.

u consider that small? look at that last shot where she’s standing in front of it, and that hood comes up to her like the same as a “crossover” SUV height 😞

small EVs would get us much farther tho, and more practical for city driving.

Never really liked Fiat, or Pandas in particular, but I am so glad that manufacturers are putting some colour into the interiors of their less expensive cars these days. Not a fan of all the black (not a Goth), so yes. Colour. Fantastic!

I like Manos’ camerawork, but he’s wrong about the Panda. It’s absolutely spot on. If you’re going to pay homage to an old model, without going full Renault 5 about it, then this is how you do it. Bravo, Fiat!
