      They say, RR claimed once, that if their clients want a journey and it’s more than 200 mile — they just take a chopper (helicopter that is, not a wobbly one-seater from “Easy Rider”). Still, every interior is leather. So, horses for courses. I would get one, personally.

    Seems the right conclusion to me. A maximum of 200 miles of range is way out of line with the premium experience the RR offers in every orher respect.

    A concierge charging service sounds an interesting idea. There are definitely times when I would find that tempting.

      Wealthy people don’t drive 2000 km to the beach in Portugal. They take a helicopter for distances over 100 miles and a plane for distances over 300 miles.

      Fully agree, but that is just the standard scheme of petrol producers of intentionally making second rate electric cars, in order to justify continuing to make outdated petrol cars. A Lucid gets 500 miles on the freeway. More than the Bentayga, and is charged from your home, And granted money doesn’t matter I suppose but a 21 MPG your getting a pathetic 4 miles per US dollar, compared to over 20 with an electric vehicle.

      The Spectre would definitely be the ultimate luxury if it uses the neue klasse 800 Volt system, that would definitely enhance a lot. The current platform is good, but still, 800 Volt would be much nicer

    My, that Bentley it’s ugly! I prefer the interior of the Rolls, and a dead quiet electric motor that always reacts instantly seems like the obvious choice. And I do like v8s.. I do agree about the range here. Normally, it’s pretty irrelevant as you charge from home anyway. But here, it might be..

    According to reports, RR had to introduce a small amount of noise because the test mules were so silent that they made occupants queasy/feeling sensory-deprived. We also know what the duty of this will be: if your hotel/resort/residence doesn’t have an on-site helipad, you’ll need transportation from/to the pad/airport. When your private jet drops you off in St Moritz, there is an almost 10-minute car ride to Badrutt’s Palace Hotel. Likewise, when you sit in your suite at Villa Maia in Lyon, it is a 15-minute ride to Restaurant Ombellule, to highlight how inconvenient it is to be rich. Being driven in a Spectre may help soften the distress of seeing plebs, we can imagine.

    When was the last time you saw a RR being refuelled at a petrol station? In fact when was the last time you saw one being driven on a motorway or any road other than the Kings Road in Chelsea?

    The short rage of the electric Rolls is because market research indicated they didn’t need very long range.
    When asked if they needed 300 miles of range one of the people they asked responded “if I need to go that far I’ll take my helicopter”.

    On the range comment, Rolls have said the spectre was designed for around 300 miles (More in the warmer Middle East where they expected to sell these) because if the customer was travelling further they took their helicopter. On the silence question, the argument is that complete silence disorientates passengers causing motion sickness, so some noise is needed

    I have to say, it did look very special in a good way. I could never afford one, but I was still happy to see it.
